I was discussing this with a friend last night...who do you think will be in the republican primaries in 2008? I know it is a ways off, but I really don't see anyone in the forefront. Also, what ever happened to JC Watts?

The Republican party is too far right to nominate McCain. And pigs will fly before they nominate a black person.

McCain? Liberal.
While Powell is a man of character, I'm not sure he is a right-winger at all. I remember him being a lib, so that puts him out of the picture. I think Rice isn't conservative, too. We don't an need Arlen Specter rino running, either. Damn. I can think of one man that is conservative in the Republican party. Zel Miller is more conservative than have the fakes in the GOP. Where are the conservatives? Dead. Reagan and Goldwater are did, so is the conservative movement. Make way for the socialist bastards. George Bush is no conservative. I'm not sure about Cheny.
Who'll be the Socialist pick in 2008? Hillary. I am 100% positive.

I don't want to go into that topic. It'll derail the thread. Maybe later.
I don't care who you are, if you are a conservative, have values, etc., then I'd vote for you. Since 2008 will be the first vote of mine, I hope someone pops up quick.

McCain is a loose cannon. He's the equivalent to Dean and would blunder the likes of which we've not seen before. Plus, someone should've told him to shave his face in upward strokes, I can't tell if he's wearing a turtle-neck half the time.
I'd say Powell is a likely candidate. He would comprise the perfect ticket and Republicans are more likely to include minorities in important positions than their Democratic counterparts. Libs claim they are not racist, but in fact have done very little more than squander the minority vote with inaction. "Blacks United" is one such group of African Americans tired of being disenfranchised by their Democratic "allies" and have begun an aggressive ad campaign opposing Kerry. Finally.

But I don't think Colin Powell is even a rino republican. If Powell was more conservative, someone like Larry Elder, then I'd vote for him in a second the November 2008.

Its hard to imaging McCain blundering more than Dubya has so far. The republicans have the right all tied up, but have had problems getting the center in line. I think McCain would bring in a lot of voters who have no particular allegiance to one party or the other. I'm not a hard core Democrat or Republican. I have no idea who to vote for yet as both Bush and Kerry disgust me in different ways, but I'd vote for McCain in a heartbeat.
Maybe a McCain/Powell ticket would be interesting? I don't see Powell as having the experience for the top job yet.

They're both moderate-liberal. The Republican party is nowhere near as conservative as it was years ago. McCain is ify. He has no allegiance to either side, and he's not solid with either side. Powell is a decent man, but his politics put him out of consideration.

So you want Trent Lott to run? Or is he too liberal for you?

His statements are liberal. Even if he votes with the President 90% of the time, Bush and McCain aren't conservative at all.

Lott votes with the president %97 of the time. Not much of a difference. Who is a 'real' conservative. Apparently President Bush is not conservative enough, so perhaps the Republican Party is.
McCain:
%86
Lott:
%98
Just curious, which issues is John McCain to moderate on?

Guiliani or Condi Rice, I say.
As for JC Watts, he's still active in terms of attending rallie, events, etc., - he's just not a representative at the moment. He'll resurface on the national level eventually.

You're missing the point. I don't believe Rice or Powell are Republicans. I think both are liberal. If that's not the case, correct me, but I don't recall them being anything other than to the left. If they are to the right that's fine. I don't care. The image of the first shemale president creeps me out.

That's a wonderful idea. Two wildly successful moderates. I imagine they would win alot of liberal votes.

Good for you guys! Looking ahead instead of tarrying with Bush's inevitable loss this november. !
You're gonna have to choose wisely to have a chance of beating President Kerry in 2008!!

He said a black woman was incompetent. Isn't there some PC rule about that kinda stuff?
Kerry won't win. The polls are both within margin, and we still have a few months left. Kerry is a pinko.
If there was a thread called "2008: Democratic Nominee", I'd see at as people wanting to know what's next, who's rising in the party, not "candidate x will lose because candidate y RoXxOrS!"

Hell: Hell\, n.
1. The abode of Satan and the forces of evil; where sinners suffer eternal punishment; "Hurl'd headlong...To bottomless perdition, there to dwell"- John Milton; "a demon from the depths of the pit" [syn: Hell, perdition, Inferno, infernal region, nether region, the pit] [ant: Heaven] 4: (religion) the world of the dead; "he didn't want to go to hell when he died" [syn: Hel, Hell, Hades, infernal region, netherworld, Scheol, underworld] 5: violent and excited activity; "they began to fight like sin" [syn: sin] 6: noisy and unrestrained mischief; "raising blazes" [syn: blaze]
2. A political term under a moderate to conservative leader. (Communism) Bush [syn:evil]
What makes it 4 years of hell? We've gotten over the recession and we haven't been attacked.

Stances? That's "too constricting on his political freedom." Ask the PL. He has the right to vote and talk 2 different ways! It's Amerika!

I like Larry Elder. He's not a phony who acts like those NAACP frauds. He is fairly conservative, although he is alot more fiscally conservative than socially conservative. And his nook was good. Well worth the read. But that's right, ya have to hate Whitey to be black.
Sigh. But I'm guessing we're going to get a rino in 2008. There is no conservatism in the GOP, outside of some blue collar areas (areas of Texas, central PA, etc.).
Where's a young Reagan or Goldwater when you need one. Not a sniveling little fake like some Republicans (Arizona republican? California republican? Besides McClintok), who might as well vote with Pelosi. Someone who can lead and has a pair.

The Clintons didn't seem to mind him winning when they spoke at the DNC. In fact they seemed quite supportive of him.

McCain is too unstable emotionally; he lost the primaries for exactly the same reason Dean did.
Powell would make a wonderful President, but he won't run, largely because of his family's health. This is ironic, because that kind of integrity only makes him deserve the office even more.
My guess: they'll put Rice up for office. Think about it: Hillary is going to be the Democrat nominee in 2008. This is already pretty much wrapped up. The only chance the Republicans have of beating her is to beat her in the political-correctness game, and the only person they have who can do that is Rice.
