The one glaring thing about this whole saga that I don't see mentioned is the lack of credibility of Bill Rood. Anyone who has ever known people who have had "war buddies" knows that they have a special bond and that they would lie for each other without hesitation and take it to the grave. Especially if they were both a party to a less than honest account of events.
