There were over 200 "incidents" last year. I don't think it's fair to say "most" of them were hoaxes. Some of the major ones are indeed hoaxes and with them having caught the perpetrator of a few different incidents, you'd think they're making a dent in the problem, but it's still a problem. My feeling is that until the Palestinian problem subsides, this isn't going to go away. France is the first to experience this problem because it has the biggest Muslim and Jewish populations in Europe, but other countries will follow.
