Ahnold's words:
I finally arrived here in 1968. What a special day it was. I remember I arrived here with empty pockets but full of dreams, full of determination, full of desire.
The presidential campaign was in full swing. I remember watching the Nixon-Humphrey presidential race on TV. A friend of mine who spoke German and English translated for me. I heard Humphrey saying things that sounded like socialism, which I had just left.
But then I heard Nixon speak. Then I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting the government off your back, lowering the taxes and strengthening the military.
If this site is correct, no such debate ever occurred.

That quotation doesn't say anything about a debate; it just mentions the general race.

"You rise," he said, "like Aurora."

Er. He said he heard the Nixon-Humphrey race on TV. He didn't say the Nixon-Humphrey debate.
He also said he heard them speak. But he didn't say that he heard them speak at the same time.
This is simple reading comprehension stuff. That Dailykos can't do SAT level reading comp makes him the meathead.

D'oh! I need to pay more attention to what I post.
Sorry, mea culpa.

What Arnold did lie about was his promise not to cut education funding, but I'm not sure anyone really believed him anyway.
