With all this talk about Bush being responsible for "lying" to Congress and the American public regarding Iraq I was wondering what is the purpose of the Senate Intelligence Committee?

Didn't the Sentate Intelligence Committee see the same intelligence that was shared with the President? Didn't the Senate Intelligence Committee also determine that Iraq was a threat? Who sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee during the decision making for going to war with Iraq?

I think this would reveal quite a bit about those involved in telling us that Bush "lied" to us.

PS - I could not find a list of who was on the committee during 2001-2002 from their web site.

Interesting indeed.

No one "lied" A lie is purposely misleading.

For all we know Iraq DID have WMDs and sent them off months before.

We HAVE found stuff he DID say he got rid of. So it's not like he hasn't lied before.

Do I think Iraq still had WMDs? I have no clue.

I agree. I would *think* that those going after the president for "lying" would be going after the Senate Intelligence Committee as well. They came to the same conclusion as the President did.

They are trying to back away from the whole "Lying" thing now. It was cool back earlier in the year. Then Michael Moore tried to do it on TV, and made a fool out of himself.

And even at that, if we wouldn't have wasted our time with the UN, we wouldn't have given SH the opportunity to hide his WMD's. Or worst, sell them to Al Quaida, Syria and the likes.

I strongly believe that going to the UN was the right thing to do. I also stongly believe that not forcing the UN to vote on the war resolution was also the right thing to do. Had we forced the UN vote and the UN voted it down it would have invalidated the UN.

Unfortunately, I think the UN is starting to become useless by their own lack of action around the world.
