The people of the Gulf Coast need our help and we should find ways to help them.

Let's put aside our bickering and politics even for a day and do something constructive.

I'd agree, but what can we do from here? This is an honest question; there may be something I haven't thought of yet, but I don't know how an Internet messageboard is going to be of much help.

Well, a tremendous amount of energy is spent bickering and arguing to change people's minds which are mostly set in stone.

Perhaps the time could be spent better finding ways to help those in need right now. Call the local Red Cross, Salvation Army, or whatever applies if you live in the United States.

I know that's what I'll be doing today and tomorrow instead of posting.

Even though I am feeding God to the trolls, how about this:

Here is mine.

Lord God, thank you. Thank you for the rains that feed our crops. Thank you for the winds that spread the fruit that sustain us. Thank you for all that you have done and will do. Your power is awesome, and we respect it. Let your will be done.

Lord God, we ask that you comfort those in the path of Ivan and bless those who will face destruction. Please protect those in your will and reveal your power upon those who have lost their faith, for we know the destruction of a storm compares nothing to the fruit of life in which you offer.

Maybe typing on the internet will make a difference if you go to the Red Cross and type some $ amounts. They say they're short of funds with regard to hurricane relief.
