I've been saying for a while that I think that Kerry goes back and forth about issues and that alone is one reason why I could not vote for the guy.

I vote the person, not the party. I've been paying attention to both candidates. Both have their negatives and both have their positives.

But, today I read something that made me really think that Kerry is a manipulative liar. If you'll remember, he's been making comments, along with his wife, about how George Bush says one thing then does another.

Most specifically, he pointed out how George Bush keeps saying that he wants lower health care and Medicare costs for senior citizens...but at the same time he points out that the federal government has announced that Medicare premiums will rise by 17% next year for seniors. In other words, he is trying to make G.W. look two-faced and dishonest.

Well, what Kerry fails to mention is this:

Kerry himself voted five different times for the increases.

Elsewhere in Heinz's wide-ranging indictment of American politics, the Mozambique-born ketchup heiress criticizes President Bush for calling for lower health-care costs for seniors even as the federal government announced that Medicare premiums would rise by 17 percent next year.

It's the largest dollar-amount increase ever.

"I never thought there would be so many lies," she says.

A White House spokeswoman blamed Congress for the Medicare hike — and singled out one member by name: "Congress voted for automatic increases in Medicare, and Sen. Kerry voted five different times for the increases," said the spokeswoman, Suzy Defrancis.
You can read about it here at the NY Post and here at the Washington Times.

In the Washington Times article, notice that it mentions also that Kerry is trying to make a it point of his campaign (and presidency) to curtail medical lawsuits...but that Edwards is the one who has made about $40 million over the last 10 years suing physicians!

One provision of his health care plan that has drawn skepticism is his declared aim to "get rid of the frivolous lawsuits clogging the health care system." Mr. Kerry's running mate is Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina, who made $39 million over a 10-year period as a personal-injury lawyer who specialized in suing doctors and hospitals.
For these reasons, there is a reason to NOT vote for Kerry and Edwards: They say one thing and do another -- and they aren't even in office yet.

While the guy who is in office does the exact same thing.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Yeah, he might.

But at least he's not trying to win a presidency and has the office.

I find it almost amusing that a CANDIDATE is trying to win an office on a platform that he is accusing the other of!

You can't be that blind can you? LOOK AT THE DAMN INCREASES HE VOTED FOR. You will see plain as day the difference between the ones he voted for and the increases they are talking about.

Notice her wording:
"Congress voted for automatic increases in Medicare, and Sen. Kerry voted five different times for the increases," said the spokeswoman, Suzy Defrancis"

Increases is different then a major increase, look at the voting... a 17% jump vs a 1-2% rate hike over 8 years.

Medical costs go up with inflation, payments have stayed low, there needs to be adjusting, now that we are broke ($100 to 200 BILLION on Iraq, etc.) they had to do a quick increase to keep up.

I vote the person, not the party. I've been paying attention to both candidates. Both have their negatives and both have their positives
I have never heard you say a positive thing about the "other" party.

Spinsanity Link

As usual, the issue is more complex than the talking points would have you believe.
Where have my hands been?
