At least one senior Hamas terrorist was killed and eight Palestinians wounded in an Israeli air force missile strike on a car in Gaza city late Sunday night.
After the IAF strike Sunday night, a Kassam rocket was launched at the western Negev town of Sderot early Monday morning. The missile landed at 8:15, and the new radar system that is meant to provide a 20-second warning did not operate. Four people were treated for shock after the attack, and witnesses reported that the missile caused damage to the yard of house, Army Radio reported.
Elsewhere in the Gaza Strip three mortar shells were fired at Israeli communities in Gush Katif. No casualties were reported. Also, shots were fired at an IDF position near Kfar Darom and Neve Dekalim.
Also, in the West Bank on Monday morning, security forces arrested a female fugitive at the al Aida refugee camp north of Bethlehem, and an additional fugitive was arrested in a village north of Ramallah.
Palestinian sources identified the Hamas terrorist killed Sunday night as Khaled Abu Salamiya, 33, a resident of the nearby Sha'ati refugee camp. He was a member of the Hamas military wing, Izzadine al-Kassam, AP reported. Witnesses said parts of a dismembered body were pulled from the wreckage.
According to the army, he was a key figure in the manufacturing of Kassam rockets on behalf of the Hamas and was involved in attacks on Sderot.
