Let's look at the facts and observations:
John Kerry has been a piss-poor candidate thus far against someone whose record should (according to the left) should make it fairly easy to beat.
The DNC has been saying some pretty harsh and divisive, counter-productive things against Bush.
John Edwards, the young stud, is noticeably absent from most of the campaigning.
Mrs. Heinz-Kerry has been saying some idiotic things.
They keep harping on issues that no-one cares about like Bush's guard service.
They have <ahem> "unofficially" re-introduced Bill's idiots like Carville and Begala to the campaign which will likely not help them.
Bill Clinton can't keep out of this. (whether by his choice or the Kerry campaign's)
What if Bush wins? He won't be able to run again, and his VP will not be a viable candidate IMO. This means that the GOP has no strong options as of yet. After 8 years if Bush, the left's base will likely be more energized than they are now.
Now what would happen if Kerry won? In 2008 he would be the one to run again. In 2012 Edwards would likely be the front runner to be the nominee.
Which leaves me to my point: If Kerry wins there will be NO SPACE FOR HILLARY TO RUN UNTIL 2016!! I think the Dems may be throwing Kerry to the wolves…for…Hillary…

I think it is pretty obvious that Hillary will run in 2008.
The Clintons saw that 9/11 would make Bush's re-election a certainty and stood by while Dean imploded, then behind the scenes shoved Kerry front & center and have now put in their own campaign team to really screw over Kerry (who do you REALLY think is behind the CBS forged documents???..Joe Lockhart..the Clinton Press Secretary). Kerry stands for nothing, ....I mean seriously even most left wing Democrats will say that... he is just cannon fodder for W'04 to make way for Hillary '08.
Hillary will almost be 70 years old in 2016 , so 2008 is her best bet.... don't think for a second the Clintons would allow any Democrat to win in '04.
Another little reading of the tea leaves: did you notice the extremely "nice" language by George W. for the Clintons at the White House ceremony unveiling the official clinton portraits?

For her, it's worse than that. If Kerry won, got re-elected in 2008, Edwards runs in 2012 as the frontrunner, 2016 would leave Edwards running for a second term (still no room for "Billary"), and her next real shot would be 2020! She'd be almost 74... yikes.

Edwards is campaigning plenty. He's doing local things in battleground states. It isn't glitzy or glamorous, so the media rarely, if ever, covers it. You do hear about him from time to time, though.
For instance, Cheney tried to claim that the economy is better than the jobs numbers make it look because of people selling things on Ebay. Edwards was quick to reply something like, "Great, if we just add in the lemonade stands and bake sales, the economy is just humming!"
The first two posts reek of desperation, though. Getting scared that Dubya might actually lose?

The point is that Edwards is not in the mainstream public like a running mate usually is. He is being shoved downward and aside so he is less likely to be in Hillary's way in 2008. They don't want him to be a serious contender.

Jeb. Name recognition, same money machine, governor of a major electoral state. All the factors that led to W having a chance to begin with, given that he didn't exactly have his own merits to begin with.
