Associated Press
NEW YORK - At the behest of CBS, an adviser to John Kerry said he talked to a central figure in the controversy over President Bush's National Guard service shortly before disputed documents were released.
Joe Lockhart denied any connection between the presidential campaign and the papers. Lockhart, the second Kerry ally to confirm contact with retired Texas National Guard officer Bill Burkett, said he made the call at the suggestion of CBS producer Mary Mapes.....
Well the circle is starting to close. The great left wing conspiracy to defame a sitting president just befor the election. And Joe is a Clintonista. Where was Hillary? And where is the objectivity od CBS.

Wasn't there a Drudge story a few days ago to the effect that the "records" had been offered to the Kerry campaign, and they turned them down? This makes it sound to me like Drudge may have gotten that one right.
Re: conspiracy. Riiiiiight. The "Right" invented the "vast X wing conspiracy to defame a sitting president." How long were they digging around to no result in WhiteWater? Who was financing Paula Jones' lawsuit and plastic surgery? Who turned the WhiteWater investigation to an unrelated topic when Clinton made the stupid mistake of perjuring himself in the civil lawsuit that should have been postponed until he was no longer a sitting President? Who made false accusations that the Clintons killed somebody?
Hell, your boys aren't even picky about who they slime. They turned their "vast X wing conspiracy" machinery on one of their own, John McCain, in the 2000 primaries.
Turnabout's fair play. When your side brings guns to a knife fight, you can't complain when the other side calls in guns of its own.
That said, forging the documents was a stupid mistake on the part of someone on the left, or a brilliant move by Karl Rove (I bet he wishes that he'd done it even if he didn't). Nobody should stoop that low, though. Leave the lying about opponent's character for unfounded rumors, push polls, and whisper campaigns like Rove does.

My concern rests with CBS, ABC and NBC, not Karl Rove.

It's going to unravel soon.
And it's going to do nothing but help Bush.
Way to go.
