I want to know if anyone actually believes this statement (the title of this thread)?, does anyone think that open discussion has deteriorated so far that we can't have opinions not represented in what essentially amounts to a nation wide opinion poll token once every 4 years?

And I got the title from one of the banner ads on this site.

No offense, but maybe you should spend a little more time on your spelling and grammar. I'm not really even sure what you're asking.

Well yes I believe it completely. That's why I'll vote. 100%.

one question: why'd you post if you think that voting is the only effective way to express yourself?

Voting? Well generally speaking I think the power of the vote has gradually deteriorated in the last few years. It's becoming increasingly difficult to hold the government and the leaders of government to account. The effectiveness of the institutions in place to call for government accountability, one of the key aspects of a democratic government, has greatly deteriorated. So when it comes to voting, one might think "What's the point?".

Indeed. Except that one might ALSO look at the role that FBL's procreation rate plays in reducing the effectiveness of an otherwise intelligent referenDUM(b).

I always liked the maxim, "If you're gonna go do something; do it well."

But that's just me, apparently.

That reminds me of Groucho Marx' reply to the contestant on, "You Bet Your Life" who had 20 kids and said, 'I love my husband.'
