So what's up with this lawsuit? From the tone of the article, I'm not going to put any faith in the author's objectivity. However, the quotes and allegations are scandalous.
Me, I'd like to hear the tapes (if they exist) first hand.

What I find ludicrous about her story is that if she was so shocked and horrified about their first dinner conversation, why didn't she leave? i would have even made a scene. Second, why not HANG UP THE PHONE or threaten to tell his wife during the phone conversations? lastly, if she thought he was such a perv, why did she -- and her friend -- go to dinner with him again?
She got pissed and decided to try and get some loot from him, period. her "victimization" story is full of crap, and no -- I'm no fan of O'Rielly.

Hahaha
Nice try defending your boy there. *If* his harrassment of this co-worker is true, what he did is indefensible. You can try to spin her motives all you want. If this is true, I applaud this woman for hanging in there while he dug his grave. If this is the kind of guy you all look up to (dare I say, a neocon Bubba), hypocrites you all are. Likely, another pompous, self-righteous moth to the flame.

Washington is full of types like O'Reilly. I happen to believe that some of it is true. I don't think it's a made up story. Something DID happen.
Do I care?
No.

No.
My immediate question is: why not?
Just because we can't catch them all doesn't mean that the ones we do catch shouldn't be punished. He should at least have to pay up, and maybe even lose his job. Any "normal" (non-famous and/or wealthy) person would.

Yeah, if he DID do everything he is alleged to have done he SHOULD pay her.
It's disgusting.
But, what I meant is that I'm going to let the lawyers do their thing and see what happens.
People would be surprised if they knew how many well-heeled sexual predators roamed the hallways of governmental and media offices.
If I didn't make it plain before what I'm saying is that I think there IS some merit to the allegations. She didn't just dream this crap up.
O'Reilly has, as Ricky Ricardo would say, "Some 'splainin' to do."

Hey jackass, why don't you try READING my post before making a fool out of yourself? If you do, you'll see where I stand on O'Reilly.

With all the crap you spout, my reply had a simple message: I don't believe you. Nor do I really give a steaming crap about what you say your opinion of him is. Anyway, I'd again like to congratulate you on the 80's mentality that if a woman is sexually harrassed it's either 1) her fault, or 2) not her place to call attention to it.

I don't think her attorney would have taken her case if it did not have some legitimacy, you know? There HAS to be some merit.
O'Reilly is a media fascist and although I sometimes agree with his talking points, I think he's put himself WAY out there with his pompous condescending attitudes and glib assumptions about people. I mean, he made an *ss out of himself over the Kobe Bryant issue with his commentaries.
That makes him a hypocrite.
More at eleven.

If I had a nickel for every time some blowhard got caught doing something he'd decried a week earlier... well, I wouldn't be posting here. Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly are just two of the more recent examples.
That's why I love these people so much. It's kind of like watching the Titanic steam heedless through the icy North Atlantic... only this time, there's only one person on board and he probably deserves what's coming.
But, to be fairer to Bill than he's been to others, let's give him a chance to respond to these allegations with something more substantial than off-the-cuff denunciations of the accuser.

I'm not a big fan of O'Rielly's but *IF* these allegations are true then his Career and Life are most likely over. I'm reserving my opinion until all the facts and the evidence has been provided. If these allegations are false I hope She get's sued for slander and everything she's worth. If they are proven false then she will have just turned out to be a lowlife trying to get money from a celebrity.
I would like to hear her evidence before making any further comments on it. Otherwise everything is just speculation.

What he did, if he actually did it, is in fact indefensible. Nevertheless, I smell entrapment. Both sides here seem to be guilty of wrongdoing here.

I agree with Millenium: There is responsibility and liability on BOTH sides.
BOTH sides are at fault.
I think she entrapped him. Yes, I think that he did the things he is accused of, but I think it is because she led him to believe that they were together as a couple.
Is he married or single?

perhaps she was afraid of losing her job, and her career being mangled by a powerful media influence.
Oops. I guess her fears were well-founded.

Losing her job? Do you even know the details of the story? In a nutshell, she worked for Fox for 4 years, went to CNN, and then came back. The alleged harassment occurred right before she CAME BACK. If she was so upset and bereaved about his comments/actions, WHY DID SHE COME BACK TO WORK FOR HIM? Hello? She came back for the same reason she didn't get up and leave the dinner tables, for the same reason she didn't hang up the telephone during their conversations, for the same reason she -- and her friend -- went to dinner with him and DIDN'T leave.

Of course! She loses credibility and weight when she chooses to remain in contact with the person that allegedly harassed her -- then, she suddenly has enough and decides to sue him. The first thing any lawyer would ask would be, why did you stay in contact with him? From the info we've seen so far, she's going to have a hard time playing the victim to its fullest.
lastly, I'm in no way claiming things didn't happen -- I'm claiming that her timing and story doesn't reflect well for her.

what do you mean "doesn't reflect well for her"?
Are you saying that its ok to sexually harrass someone if they come back to work for you?
You say you don't refute the things occurred, you just don't like the timing.
How could she orchestrate the timing of someone else's behaviour?
why are you defending the guy?

If you knew anything about the story, you woul dhave known that she had left Fox for CNN, then (mysteriously?) came back to Fox for a short tenure before unleashing her allegations.

I have read the story. Still unclear how that excuses/justifies sexually harrassing her.
Perhaps you could explain that for me.

If indeed he was sexually harassing her, there is no excuse. What my reply was aimed at was your insinuation that she accepted it or kept quiet for fear of losing her job.
Read Railhead's response to the same post of yours. He did a better job of specifying exactly what I was trying to say.

did.she.lose.her.job?
why yes, I think she did.
did.she.lose.it.for.not.staying.quiet?
why yes, I think so.
I'm not insinuating, I'm stating what actually happened.
Do you have a truth allergy?

Come now, Bucky -- I HAVE read the story via several links, and none I've read say she was fired from FOX after returning from CNN as you claim. THAT'S the story link I can't find, and I'd like you to point me in the right direction.
