Well, yeah. And there is a non-zero probability that monkeys might fly out of my butt. That doesn't mean I avoid the banana stands in the grocery store....

Would we all have to sing that song? *cringe*

Yes, but he was V.P., not attorney general. There are other VPs who came to power without being elected too. But that's not the issue. The issue is that this is "one possibility" that probably won't happen.

It would become the new national anthem, obviously.

I thought Ford was appointed VP after Agnew resigned?

He was. Again, so what? It still isn't the President resigning and VP becoming president and appointing a new VP, then abdicated to the new VP in a conspiracy theory that would cripple civil rights to a point where our ancestors would feel repressed.

Well, no it's not exactly the same, but it's still interesting none the less.

Heh. Yes. Yes it is. I also think that the idea of Justin Timberlake and Scott Baio making a murder-suicide pact that would rid the word of Britney, Christina, Barry Manilow and the two of them is interesting. Everyone knows that Scot Baio is the Anti-Christ, so getting rid of him would be a good thing. And Barry Manilow is resposnible for Spontaneous Human Combustion. I think everyone wins in that scenario.

This would be one of the worse disasters ever faced by the US.

Which is why it's extremely fortunate that the odds of it happenning are less than zero. I want Ashcroft out as much as the next person if not more. Unfortunately I can't advocate trying him for treason, which is a shame given how he is a traitor to everything this nation stands for, but unlike him I respect the Constitution and what he's done doesn't qualify according to that document.

But in any case, there is absolutely no evidence that the Administration would nominate Ashcroft for this office, even under the incredibly unlikely circumstance that Bush were to be removed from office but not Cheney. Were that to happen, all signs point to Rumsfeld, who is infinitely preferable to Ashcroft, not that this is saying much.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

The good voters of Missouri have already proven that Americans prefer a dead man to John Ashcroft by a 51-49% margin.
