My father is the most apolitical man alive. He has nothing but contempt for Kerry and politics in general. Despite this, he is going out on Tuesday and voting for Kerry. Even though, in his opinion, this makes him a tool.
If Bush has made my father angry enought to waste his valuable time voting then I imagine there must be many, many, many more previously unheard voices who will be speaking up tomorrow.

In simultaneous, parallel world/time lines the exact same scenario has been described but the names Bush and Kerry are transposed.
Oh, there's no such thing as simultaneous, parallel world/time lines? Ok, then it's happening in your own city, right now in real time.
Not surprising, actually.
But good for your Dad.

I know how you feel. My uncle, who hasn't voted since Nixon in `72, is getting out to vote for Bush in this election. Why is he doing this? He hates the idea of a "liberal wanker like Kerry being elected".
So, yes, stories like yours abound, but not exactly in the way you think.

Interesting, your uncle voting for a corrupt clown who disrespected the law back then, voting for another corrupt clown who doesn't respect the law now.

My straw poll in my itty-bitty little limited world says Kerry will win this election. I live in a conservative place and work with a lot of conservative (many ex-military) people. This is a group that is usually 90% Republican. This year, its only about 60% -70% Republican. What really did surprise me were the reasons given by the few "switchers". "No WMD" and "Deficit" were sort of half-heartedly mentioned .... but the thing that really seemed to be sticking in their craws was the whole mess surrounding Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, etc. Seems that one really hit home with ones who are retired military -- as if allowing that to happen tainted the military in general and them by association. All of the "switchers" believed that the incidents were condoned higher up and the people taking the fall for it are being scapegoated. "Stuff like that doesn't happen under without higher ranking officers knowing about it" Of course, this is just one small group ... doesn't mean anyone else feels that way.
On a side note, early results in Iowa (where 27% of the likely voters have already voted early) has shown actual results of 52% Kerry and 41% Bush -- in a state that was "supposed" to be 48% Kerry/41% Bush according to pre-election polls. At least there, the "undecided" vote is, in fact, voting enormously in favor of the challenger. If that holds up, Kerry will landslide. electoral-vote.com is now showing 298 Kerry and 231 Bush with a "predicted" 306 Kerry and 218 Bush.

I rarely call anyone names, but you're an ass.
Here, I'll explain. If you want to vote for a socialist dip-$hit, who can't make up his mind whether to go to the can or not without consulting the UN, please do. He (my uncle, great uncle actually) has lived enough years to know an idiot like Kerry when he sees one. Pardon, but I'll take his understanding of people's natures over liberal ideological manure any day.
Just glad to see his, long withheld, vote can cancel out another "sleeper's". Makes me feel good, and I'm digging out as many of them as I can find... especially among friends and family in Fla.

No, he's a retired mine worker. No one you'd consider "important".
