So since the election of Bush to a second term I have become more and more jaded and discontent with the actions of the Democratic Party. First off, don't get me wrong, I feel strongly for certain democratic ideals and certain key issues, namely a woman's right to choose and equal gay right, including gay marriage. But recently, the democratic party has become a hot bed for slandering, twisting words, and "whatever the republicans stand for, we stand for the opposite."

Certain issues really bothered me. First when it was decided that the DNC chair would step down there were a lot of discussions about how the Democrats would need to become closer to the republican party to bring more middle of the road voters to our side, there were talks of nominating some Pro-Life candidates to the post. Next the social security issue has really started to bother me. How can an issue so complex as Social Security be divided so evenly down party lines. There has to be some democrats that feel that privatization may be a good choice, and there has to be some republicans that believe that it's not the way to go, but there have been recent articles about "retribution" in the party if you vote against party lines. And finally, I read this article on CNN about "9/11 commission: FAA had al Qaeda warnings - Report's post-election release date questioned". Reading in the article you will come to this quote:

"The commission report, written last August, said five security warnings mentioned al Qaeda's training for hijackings and two reports concerned suicide operations not connected to aviation. However, none of the warnings pinpointed what would happen on September 11." (My emphasis)

There is no doubt in my mind that my party will ultimately use this as arsenal against the Bush Administration just like the security briefing "Al Queda determined to strike in the US" prior to Sept. 11th. This is just getting ridiculous. That's like saying "iDriveX determined to wake up tomorrow morning." No one knows where I will wake up, or what time I will wake up. Sure you might do some investigating, but you still won't find the exact details. We seem to spend more time blaming each other than the actual culprits.

I just feel recently that all this talk of "Dividing and not Uniting" is coming from both sides, not just one side. Many this is how its always been and I just haven't followed politics as much (I'm still pretty young at 23) but for you guys that have been following a lot longer, my question to you is, has it always been this way, or is it getting worse and worse?

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on which way you look at it partisanship has always been and always will be. One side will always think the other is wrong on one thing or another.

I actually Since the Election and since it seems like we are not fighting this war in Iraq the way it should be fought and several of the things President Bush is doing has really jaded me from both parties and made me more of an independant. I still have my republican leanings and always will but I've become one who no longer blindly follows the party line.

I could never be a democrat because I don't believe in much if any of what todays modern democrats believe in.

I don't understand this either, I tried to bring up the subject of reforming social security reform and the response basically is that because Bush if for it, we must be against it.

I don't know what will cause the Democrats to snap out of their hate-fest of Bush, maybe it will never happen. It is just ashame as real reform is needed on many issues and instead of working with anyone for anything good for the country, it is just, irrational obstructionism.

It is just bewildering to watch...the Democrats are behaving like a dog that keeps biting its own tail until it bleeds to death.

It is completely irrational.

It's a Republican problem just as much as it's a Democratic one. Get your head out of your righteous ass.
