Those arrested include a Congregationalist minister and 2 teachers (!).
Which reminds me - pedophiles tend to seek out situations where they have access to kids. If you ever meet a guy who gets involved in children's activities even though he has no kids of his own, keep a close eye on him.

NAMBLA sex sting? What, did they get Gary Coleman to lure the pedophiles into his bedroom full of FBI agents?

I think Prison general population would be just fine. They hate Pedophiles there as well and have there own ways of taking care of them.
This Organization should be SHUT DOWN!!! All its members thrown in Jail. Unfortuantely in our society today this probably won't happen.

Lock them in an old folks' home. A really rancid one. Reverse punishment.

The organization needs to be shown to be actually committing some kind of crime before they can be shut down; otherwise it would be a violation of the right to free assembly. They're aware of this, and as such are very careful not to commit any crimes as an organization (though they fight for the legalization of several things that most of us would consider quite vile).
This isn't the only approach that these kinds of organizations can take to keep themselves from being shut down. For example, the Ku Klux Klan manages it by having no central organization. It's generally rather easy to catch KKK chapters committing crimes and shut them down, but because there's no central organization you can only shut down the one chapter that actually did it. New chapters pop up from time to time, and so it's hard to shut the whole thing down when you have to go a chapter at a time.
All of this said, it's fairly easy to catch individual NAMBLA members doing the same stuff that they're fighting to legalize. Sting operations leave a bad taste in my mouth -they're only one step away from outright entrapment, if they're even that far from it- but the results are certainly difficult to argue against.

I'm well aware that it would be a violation of free assembly. I'm just saying that they should be shut down or Maybe it's a wish of mine.

The ACLU will defend just about anybody in the face of any infractions of any Constitutional amendments (except, notably, the second). Technically, I suppose, they're extremists. However, that form of extremism is necessary as a counterbalance to the Orwellian forces in our government which predate Bush and Clinton by decades.

"How can anyone defend them?" So public defenders shouldn't exist? And what if they're not guilty? I don't know about this case, but child sexual abuse is one of those areas where there have been blatant cases of railroading innocent people. Maybe they should have a defense?

Defend as in support their cause, not necessarily defend as in legally. The entire premise of the organization is illegal or at least what they advocate is illegal.
And yes, I understand about child sexual abuse cases. I investigate it for a living.

That is the thing about the ACLU, they defend any all groups.
Today they might be defending NAMBLA, tomorrow it might be the KKK.
I abhor both of these groups but even more so I abhor attempts to silence free speech, even speech I disagree with.
So, the ACLU is a necessity to everyone of us who place a high value on what the 1st Amendment guarantees us.

Thank you. Some people don't understand the difference between speech and actions, nor what the Constitution stands for.

Child Protective Services.
Again, I believe that people are entitled to a defense legally, I personally could not bring myself to defend their actions.

That's what I said. That kind of extremism is needed as a counterbalance to the extremism which exists on the other end of the scale. Against those who would censor anyone, we need those who would defend everyone.

Very true. Thanks. Most of the sex abuse cases I get are family related.

Yeah, we recently had a pedophile posting here at the boards.
Wonder where he is now?

Could Cody Dawg be referring to the "Michael Jackson Fans UNITE" thread in the Lounge?
