Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies, and Pinellas Park, Fla., police officers arrest 10-year-old Joshua Heldreth, of Charlotte, N.C., for trespassing on Woodside Hospice property in Pinellas park, Fla. Heldreth was attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a glass of water. Schiavo's feeding tube was removed by court order Friday, March 18, 2005. (AP Photo/Chris O'Meara)
Where the hell were the parents? I saw this interview on Dayside with Linda Vester yesterday (anyone watch it?) where the family of those other kids who were arrested were saying that basically they didn't stop their kids from trying to break police barriers. They knowingly allowed their kids to be arrested trying to save Terri's life (yea like that glass of water is going to do jack ****. She can't swallow anything).
I thought only Palestinians did this sh*t, where they let their kids go out and be "martyrs" for the TV cameras.
To all "Christian" living-death-pyshcopaths: DONT SEND YOUR KIDS TO BE ARRESTED ON NATIONAL TV. DO THE JOB YOURSELVES. KEEP THE KIDS OUT OF THIS
Hey you know what else I realized? Now these kids are going to have police records, so when they apply to college, they will have to check that box that asks if they have ever been arrested before. Hell yea, that's sure going to give their college candidacy a boost  God damn idiot parents

Actually, it'll probably help them get into a liberal university when they explain it was part of a protest.
On topic: I think it was wrong what the child did. Very wrong. Whether the parents sent him out or whether the boy went on his own accord and his parents let him. I bet those police officers feel like crap having to do their jobs that day.

So you are comparing a slap on the wrist with blowing oneself up along with others.
And people wonder why the MacNN PL is known for it's drama and lack of reality.

You sure did imply it.
Are you saying you meant something else? What else could you have possibly meant?

Maybe the various lawyers browsing this forum could clarify, those kids will have no criminal record. I don't agree with sending them out to be arrested. You have to pick your battles. You're not going to get a glass of water to a woman who has armed guards on the roof of the facility to ensure no one brings her water.

Plenty of Palestinian civilians let their kids roam freely in the streets while Israeli armor drive by, while the international TV crew take pictures of "Tyrannical Israeli army making streets unsafe for kids". Then some start throwing rocks, Israeli armor fire back with rubber bullets, potentially injuring some of the kids (whose psychopaths parents should have kept home) thus causing outrage in the Arab press.
The analogy is that they put their kids in harms way, and let the TV crews film it, thus making martyrs out of their kids. (see dictionary definition of martyr if that's too hard of a concept for you.)

"Should have taught them not to throw rocks at armed soldiers" I'll buy. "Should have kept them home" makes them prisoners under an oppressive tyrant and kind of has you making their point for them.

No, stupid parents. The cops should have cuffed the legal guardians of those lawbreakers.
This isn't about kids taking water to a dying woman -- it's about parents and adults using kids for political purposes, and it's very very wrong.

Although I agree with you, I don't think there was any need for the OP to mention Palestinians at all.
Kids don't belong in this miss and for than matter, niether do any of us (us = media, politicians, etc.).

Exactly my thoughts!
Is a 10 year old kid that tried to help someone with a glass of water a potential threat or what????

Not sure of the procedures the police have to go through when they arrest someone. It may be mandatory.
OR they were just making an example of the kid, trying to scare off other kids that may try it.
I am pretty sure they weren't just being thugs. Knowing it was being filmed and all.
And this is coming from a person that has a disdain for most cops.
