My friends, allow me to draw to your attention the idiocy of the impeached former president Clinton:

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/sto...p-255983c.html

It's amazing how, in the North, some guy can get up in front of people and say this.
All they have to do is say the word "gay republican" and the left wingers are freaking out like a bunch of caged baboons that have just seen a snake. Unbelievable.

Well you have to admit a pro-gay marriage gay Republican tryinh to put more Republicans in the Senate has some serious mind-twisting going on.

No, we don't. And it is rather offensive of you to suggest that there is. Just because someone is gay does not give anyone else the right to make assumptions about their politics. Leave Mr. Finkelstein's private life (and that of his partner of 40 years who he is marrying) out of politics.

It's also pretty rich of Mr. Clinton. As president he signed the Defense of Marriage Act, and then ran ads on Christian radio to boast about his vote. He only pulled the ads when gay activists complained. Clinton's bumbling also gave us that other paragon of equal rights - don't ask, don't tell.

Yeah, that's in really poor taste on the part of Clinton.

Although you do realize most gay Republicans are fiscal Republicans, not social Republicans--meaning they care more about Republican economic/fiscal ideology than social ideology. It will be interesting to see what happens if this guy does make a push for Hillary's seat. I wonder if Rick Santorum will welcome him and his gay spouse with open arms into the Senate.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Would be more interesting to see how Klansman/Senator/Democrat Robert KKK Byrd would react.

Still with the political posturing I see. Someone points out a flaw in a Republican and you have to counter with a point articulating a similar flaw in a Democrat.

Yes, Robert Byrd is a hateful person and yes he has made public, anti-gay remarks--I can't find a decent link; It is the "aberrant behavior" quote from a few years back I am thinking of--but that does not negate Senator Rick Santorum's public, anti-homosexual remarks. Or does it?

So, how do you think an anti-homosexual Republican Senator will react if a gay Republican, married to his life-long partner, joins the Senate? If you don't want to speculate on an answer just say but please don't offer diversionary statements again. Thanks!

You should ask that to the millions people who chose to ban gay marriage during the last elections, to the great satisfaction of the GOP.
It does amuse me that this guy went to Massachussets (that liberal stronghold) just to marry his partner (as he should be allowed everywhere else). I think it is perfectly fine for the democrats to bring up such cases, since the Republicans use the 'fear of the gay' to boost their own votes. Well plaid Mr Clinton : I guess to lower yourself to usual Republican tactics might not look very good but you showed the world that is was efficient.

Really? They use "fear the gay'? That's not what got my vote.

Nice try at spinning though. It just shows that the left will try anything to win, even to do what they have attacked the GOP of doing...

It's disgusting. Almost as disgusting as him getting praise for getting 10M for African Aids Support.

George Bush - 10 Billion plus...

The GOP must hate Gays and people with Aids if they are willing to give out so much money in AID eh?

Get your facts straight. Pun intended.

It's a non-issue for many voters. Find me one person who voted GOP because of the gay marriage... it's nonsense and you know it.

I voted against the anti-gay marriage bill here in GA.
But still voted Republican.

I didn't vote either way.

I wouldn't vote for it, nor would I vote against it.

"Not fear" my foot.
Hey, if someone feels strongly enough about fiscal or foreign policy issues to vote Republican -- or line up money to try to add one more Republican Senator -- despite the fact that that party wants to make his marriage void under the constitution, more power to 'em. But it's not going to stop me or Bill Clinton from noting that there's some painful dissonance there.

What I really like is that the "terrifying" photo of two gay men is about as innocuous as you could get.
Oh nO! With the LIBERALS running Arkansas, men wearing collared shirts will sit on their porches and have conversations!

Well, we're all glad for you, Zimph.
In the meanwhile, the Republican leadership just might be operating on other principles.

Mithras and the Dems sent out equally horrible propaganda telling the left that we plan on taking away everyone's rights, and turn this into a Christian state. And take over the world.

"Ohhz noooz dem evil Christians be takin away our sodomy! WE CAN'T HAVE DAT~"

But I guess that is better eh?

I'm no liberal, but I've never seen such blatant scare tactics in my life! (the so called 'scared tactics' of Mr. Howard regarding economy if Labor gets in is nothing compared to this!) Americans like to melodramatise everything... it's so funny.
In vino veritas.

It seriously is, like this thread title, pure drama for the sake of drama.

What is meaning in the law of a civil marriage in Massachusetts? I understand the significance of such in a particular religion; but, I have no idea what this particular event means in Massachusetts. sam

"Common sense" can vary from person to person. Is it not your "common sense" to bar homosexuals from the right to marry?
