Looks like the hurricane has brought out the worst in people yet again. Just saw footage of people looting stores in New Orleans. Bring in the National Guard and shoot them on site.

Are you going to keep mentioning that in every thread? OK, 40% of the National Guard for the state of Louisiana is deployed. That leaves 60%. They'll maybe activate half of that at the most. If it's more, I'd be surprised. And don't forget the 5000 guardsmen that just got activated in four other states to go help in NOLA. Plus 10,000 more soldiers at Fort Polk. If you are going to beat a dead horse, at least be realistic about it.

Oh, and where did you find this 40% figure? I can't locate it. Or are you just thinking 40% of Louisiana's guard are activated for Iraq because 40% of the troops there are guardsmen? If that's the case, it's a pretty baseless assumption.

I think if you are going to partake in the discussions in this forum and show your bias you should give up being a moderator.

God forbid the guy actually has an opinion.

As for the looters, in the wake of such a catastrophe, people grabbing food, water and beverages, even some clothes isn't really ticking me off. I realize that it's unlawful, but if I was in a few feet of water, in need of food and water in that 100-degree heat, and there was no commerce or public services going on... I'd probably grab the necessities myself.

What makes me pissed are the skumbags breaking into jewelry stores and stealing other valuables.

So I'm not allowed to question someone else's assertions? Can you tell me, from that post above, just what exactly my bias is? I bet you get it wrong.

I've always been upfront about my positions on various subjects, and yet I've never closed a thread because someone disagrees with my views, or I disagree with theirs. Did I close the thread? Did I edit his post? I engaged in a conversation. I did so without nastiness and name calling. I'm sorry if you find that so offensive. Actually, I'm not. Huh, and all this time I thought it was supposed to be the right that looking to stifle dissent. I guess you really do learn something new everyday.

If you think I'm not fit to moderate here because I have an opinion on a topic, feel free to contact the admins and express your concerns. It won't break my heart any. Make sure you give them suggestions on completely neutral people to take my spot, if you can find any. Good luck with that.

You just stated facts, and I saw no 'opinion' there whatsoever.

I haven't looked into it, but I'm guessing moderators here are supposed to moderate the forums, not the discussions, IE make sure we are not to assholeic too each other. Not to moderate their own or our opinions.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as the 40% number, I heard it on various news reports. Correct me on that two. I'll do my own research also.

As far as looters: Today show just showed COPS snagging stuff from a Walmart!

Police are allowing and participating in doing what they have to in order to get food and supplies. There is no water, electricity or services of any kind in the area right now.

Most police are ATTEMPTING to prevent people from looting electronics, jewelry and other unnecessary items.

TI is the only moderator on here who is able to do that with respect for other members (even if he strongly disagrees with them). There are other that is more of a problem.

I should have been more specific. If people are after food and water, blankets etc.. I can understand, but the people who are taking the expensive luxury items are not doing it to survive. Shoot them.
