From the beginning of the article: "Not pornography involving children, but pornographic material featuring consenting adults."
From the end of the article: "But should porn be a priority in a place like Miami, where serious crime is rampant? "It's all part of the same thing, of the organized crime syndicate," Sharp said. "It has an effect on children."
It's always about the children. Oh the poor children! They must not ever know what their genitals are for, or what a god given pleasure is in store for them. Save them save them save them.
Just shut them away in front of their FPSs and be done with them.

Sexual pleasure is godgiven and a gift, but it's a gift allowed to be explored and enjoyed only with the partner you have married, at least from the point of view of religion. So, it's not sex that is deplorable for religious people but the enjoyment of it outside the marriage and the propagation of outside-marriage-sex in media.
Peace be upon you.

So . . . we talkin' opposite-sex marriage, same-sex marriage, or both?

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

Hehe, good question, I should have been more specific I guess.
A marriage is religiously meant to be between a man and a woman for the purpose of founding a family and raising children.
Peace be upon you.

At least all abrahamitic religions condemn outside-marriage-sex as a sin.
Off course like every human you have the right to engage in outside-marriage-sex, but if God exists, you have to be prepared to be judged upon it, if you don't repent and change your ways before you die.

I'm a Christian, however, my beliefs allow for sex outside of marriage. I'm not going to try telling you how to live and kindly ask that you return the favor.

Huh? I'm not telling you how to live, I'm just stating the fact that fornication, ie. premarital sex, is a sin in all abrahamitic religions, that's all.

Point :: The religion has been tweaked, edited, changed and altered to suit those in charge at any point. The bible is a work of fiction twisted to meet the goals of churches for ages.

Two concepts that you should get familiar with:
1) There is no ONE right translation of the Bible, only an approximation to the original Hebrew OT and Greek NT. No serious scholar doubts that we have VERY accurate versions of the original texts.
2) The Bible w/o the inspiration of the Holy Spirit is like giving an illitaerate person a lexicon. It just doesn't make sense.

That's fair, however, no two 'Christians' interpret the 'bible' the same way. Over time it's been changed dramatically and many different strains of Christianity have developed. Lutherans and Catholic see it differently, as do Assemblies of God and Mormons. So, who's right? That's my question.

I think there's a great difference between what specific people or denominations teach and what is actually fundamental to Christianity. I don't know anything central to Christianity that demands only procreative sex. The Catholic Church certainly doesn't like it, that's for sure. Other denominations are pretty pissy about it too. But is it really in Christianity? Who's really trying to redefine Christianity?

Exactly.
Not long ago I met a pastor (maybe a priest, sorry to anyone if I got the esignation wrong) from the Assemblies of God. He asked me and my brother-in-law what our faith was. My b-i-l told him he was a Catholic. The AoG pastor went off about how all Catholics are going to hell. The conversation trailed off into a heated discussion and I left the room.
This illustrates my point about different beliefs within Christianity. Again, who's right?

Back to the original intent of this thread.
The majority of 9-11 hijackers resided in Florida in the months leading up to that fateful day. There may or may not be more terrorist cells in Florida. There definitely is a major drug trade problem in Florida. Why, all of the sudden, has adult porn become public enemy #1 for Gonzales? Even the FBI is scratching theirs heads.

I'm sorry that you met an AoG pastor like that. That's what gives Christianity a bad rep, we can't even agree to disagree among ourselves without judging others to eternal damnation.

Of course, if Abraham wanted to do it with someone other than his wife, he had options:
Genesis 25:1 "Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah." [Only problem is that Abraham already had a wife (Sarah), and an abandoned concubine (Hagar).]

Abraham was neither a jew nor a christian, the laws concerning these matters weren't revealed until God entrusted Moses with the law, and those adhering to the law Moses brought from God became jews and Jesus himself was a jew who stated quite clearly that he was created by God and sent by Him to confirm the Law and not to abolish it.
And besides in every case Abraham took another wife, he did it with the purpose of getting children, just like God promised him that he would make his descendants as "numerous as the stars".

I'm not a christian nor a jew but a muslim, meaning someone devoted/submitted to God, just like Abraham was. As a muslim I take the written revelations, the Law (torah), David's psalms, Jesus' gospel and the Quran very important, and I'm quite astonished that a christian group would actually ignore the revelations and create own ideologies and laws that contradict the written revelations.

While I appreciate your holistic view of religion, and respect it more than most christians singular views...
I still think the whole "religion" concept is a bunch of mythological hokum and is continuously foisted onto the powerless by the powerful in order to maintain power.

Off course it's your right to think and believe that religions are just invented for the purpose of secular powers, and indeed secular powers abused religion sometimes for their own selfish purposes, but don't ignore that your "thinking" is also based on a belief, ie. that this world came out of nothing by a coincidence and that everything is just a lucky evolution, that this life is all there is...
but the consequences for us two to be wrong are dramatically different. When I'm wrong, I might have missed up the joys of fornication, of gambling, of getting rich through interest-collecting and not having to pay to charities, I might have lost some otherwise usable time by praying daily and might have unnecessarily put hardships on me by fasting, ie. no drinking and eating from dawn till dusk, a whole month a year...,
but when you're wrong and God exists and judgment day is reality, you will have lost your eternal afterlife in paradise and gained instead eternal punishment in hell.

Three cheers for that.
Religion is great in that it provides a moral compass for many. Also, a community. Beyond that is a bunch of fiction used to control and ********.

Christianity without faithful adherence to the message of Scripture and Church tradition, in which Scripture was composed and has since conception been interpreted, is no real Christianity at all but merely a manifestation of liberal relativism with a Christian badge.
There is one Bible and that is the Greek Septuagint and the established Greek texts of the New Testament. The only discrepancy is how it is translated and interpreted. Biblical scholarship is now more refined that it has ever been before in history and our current Greek texts are very accurate.

There is one Bible and that is the Greek Septuagint and the established Greek texts of the New Testament. The only discrepancy is how it is translated and interpreted. Biblical scholarship is now more refined that it has ever been before in history and our current Greek texts are very accurate.
Edit: Spelling
