When somebody creates a thread in the Lounge titled "What's your IQ" - three hundred reply *all* with scores between 145 & 190 .....
Then I come here to the War Forum and discover nothing but a bunch of 'room temperature' IQs ?
Seriously, I feel damned smart when I'm in here.
Alright, folks, continue with your America/Bush bashing while we pretend your country is relevant.

IQ shmycue. This place is at room temprature in CELCIUS dang it!
What I have noticed is that the people who people regard as the smartest 'uns are the ones who are really condesending and arrogant towards others. I mean, they *must* be smart!!
cheers

Anyway, I would disagree with WY. A lot of the people that come off as smart to me tend to be people who seem to get angry much less than the rest of us, and have more moderate political views. Condescending people (who I shall refrain from naming) don't usually strike me as overly intelligent. And while some of them may well be very intelligent, its meaninless if they're assholes.

Really? You feel damned smart? Wow.
Edit: So it must really pain you then that calls went out for Canadian assistance, from the US, immediately after Katrina hit? I bet all the people saved by the Canadians that are on the ground there don't question the relevance of other nations.
I would imagine they would question YOUR relevance, however.

Nah one of the most arrogant, condescending, self absorbed prick that posts on this forum - fortunately less and less - seems to be held in high esteem by many.
I'm not talking about Captain Obvious. He could have fit the bill but unlike the other one the Captain is honest in his opinions. Not an asskisser.
cheers

Are you talking about degrees Celsius, degrees Fahrenheit or Kelvin?

I must have missed the thread on IQs - or just don't remember.
IQ tests don't take into account the untestable, the intangibles of life and … stuff … like y'know…

Geez people, it's an internet test. Like people aren't fudging their scores by 10-20 points anyway. It's like asking a guy what size his penis is. Good luck getting on to tell you its average or less.

Ever gone to Wal-Mart just to improve your self image? Well I haven't gone there JUST to feel good about myself, but it always seems to have that effect. Go in for wiper blades, go in for a pair of shoes, go in for a pair of binoculars, it doesn't matter-there will be someone there (usually in your way) that makes you proud of yourself.
Then there's THIS forum. Some people feel that coming here is a license to be stupid-you can almost always tell this from the first few sentences of their posts. Others come here and try to have worthwhile discussions...but they get all flustered and lose their composure. I often just stay away when I'm not having the greatest of days, just because I know that there's a possibility someone will push my buttons and I'll come off like a raving moron. For example, I saw a thread about Pat Robertson in the Lounge and read it. I should have moved it here (I AM a mod, and that's part of the job), but instead I just replied to it. It is a nice, measured reply, but the point is that I should have kept thinking and moved the thread instead of replying to it.
The intellectual level of this forum fluctuates directly with the self control of the posters. Do the math-it's gonna tank fast sometimes.

It is sad that you require an explanation...
