I just heard that Bush has suspended the Davis-Bacon Act of 1931 that requires contractors to pay workers on government funded jobs wages comparable to local prevalent rates. The prevalent pay rate is decided on a state and county basis. Guess which states the law is suspended in? Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Guess who already has a contract? Halliburton. This means that the contractors can basically pay everyone working on the clean up and rebuilding of the areas devastated by Katrina minimum wage if they want, per presidential mandate.

This is absolutely disgusting. It's not enough that these people are making fortunes war profiteering in Iraq, now they're going to do it in our own backyard.
