I'm giving a presentation (tomorrow ) and I need some information on the US health care system. I'm looking for suggestions for sources of good information - what's right, what's wrong, how it's different from other countries, reform plans, etc. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, 400 billion innocent children die everyday because fat, rich, white guys want them to go without health insurance.

That's the only statistic I can recall right now, if I think of more I'll get back with you.

Here is a start.

I suggest you look for indexes of living from the UN. I don't exactly remeber what they are called... You shall find some of that in some of the posts I made as angaq0k though.

Hope this helps,

Thanks. It's actually quite odd how difficult it is to find good analyses. Maybe it's just too complex.

I feel sorry for the people who are going to have to sit through your ill-prepared presentation.

some interesting info on that stats page, I think it was wrong in one area, scandals in Canadian government, I would think its a lot higher then that
Brian says (9:16 AM): I was looking at houses in Ottawa... I actually have a temptation in me to move
Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.

It is a complex one. Working in the field myself, and having to deal with rules and regulations of Canada and the US and other countries, it is no simple matter, and I won't claim expertise on any of those except for Canada (which is still limited).

But there are comparaison charts available as for the results of these systems taking into account various variables. I wish I had these at hand.

I got a few more:

Quality Life Index from the economist.

Quality of life index can provide a description of performance indicators for Health, but my own research does not show descriptions in detail.

The uninsured as of most recent stats, availed themselves of over $35 billion in healthcare expenses. If you're not covered in the US, you're not trying.

Perhaps when you turn 14, many of these stats will make more sense to you. *teasing you for the benefit of those who may actually believe the statement and misunderstand the sarcasm in play there.
