In a bombshell interview, former FBI chief Louis Freeh charges that President Bill Clinton had a faulty "moral compass" and sold out U.S. troops killed in a 1996 Saudi bombing — in exchange for cash for the Clinton library.
Clinton vowed to hunt down the bombers, and dispatched FBI bomb experts to the scene. But Freeh charges that Clinton refused to personally ask Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to let the FBI quiz the suspects in Saudi custody…"Bill Clinton raised the subject only to tell the crown prince that he understood the Saudis' reluctance to cooperate — and then he hit Abdullah up for a contribution to the Clinton Presidential Library," Freeh writes.
Is anyone really surprised by this? Bill Clinton is a first class sleaze.

If there was ONE thing I wish I could magically go back in time to do (short of eliminating the 19 from boarding the planes that day) to change the course of history re: 9/11, I would have told Freeh to give FBI Agent John O'Neill as much money as he needed, as much manpower as he needed and as much authority as he needed and to have O'Neill follow his instincts.
Freeh did just the opposite and it appears for chickenshix reasons.
So, just keep that in mind when considering any stories about Freeh.

Give petty people just a little bit of power and watch how they misuse it! You can't silence the self doubt, can you?

Not certain what you mean with that comment, but after watching the PBS show it seemed clear that O'Neill wasn't being given the tools and access he needed to do the job and the reason he wasn't was because of his style, NOT because of any lack of results.
The man was doing a good job and he was effective at everything EXCEPT playing the inter-agency political game.
On the other hand, Freeh's comments about not accepting Clinton's White House pass and not wanting to give Clinton a chance to choose his successor suggests Freeh was ready, willing and able to play politics with THE Political Animal of all political animals, Bill Clinton!
This book even suggests a diversion to keep historians (or simply current public opinion) off his back as the dust of 9/11 continues to fall.
One final word about Freeh's political animalism and his willingness and ability to play down and dirty with the best of em, think of J. Edgar Hoover and ask yourself if freeh wasn't cut fromthe same cloth.
Imagine the POTUS swearing at the Director of the FBI (who HE appointed!) and calling him a potty word.
O'Neill didn't stand a chance.

Him and his "aide" are buried in Congressinal Cemetery in Southeast DC. They have adjoining plots. But that's not gay or anything.

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

The Saudis pay a price for their friendship with us. And we should be glad they do, or else we'd have been at war LOOOOOONG before Iraq and a far bloodier war it would have been, too.
Because we protect them from being overtaken by large hostile powers they walk the tightrope of keeping US happy, keeping their majority Muslim populace appeased, staying in power, and trying to build good will worldwide as the two most sacred cities in all of islam are within their borders and the OBL's of the world don't like that SA has allowed infidels (US) on their sacred turf.
I don't know exactly WHY the Saudi's didn't want the FBI to question the men (it COULD have been because of something we don't understand) but if Clinton took $$ then he should have to explain why he did. That's #1. No. 2 would be why he was willing to take $ in exchange for allowing the FBI to follow up in the investigation of a crime.
Chances are these guys MIGHT have been guilty and the whole M.E. could have gone up in terrorists attacks and insurgency.
So, for several millions of dollars the President everyone LOVES and the one everyone says did a good job because he kept us out of war, that president subjected us to a dirty peace instead of a dirty war. And he probably helped sew the seeds for THIS war.

Looks like the Saudis get favourable treatment from both Republicans and Democrats.

No differently than you or your GF would treat the owner of the "snide" store. The place you go for all your commentary? (jk)
