I stopped, when they started pushing their religion. It just weirded me out. I wonder how many users they lost.

I still use them, mostly because VT and its lack of direct-to-download links bugs the **** out of me.

What do you use? Softpedia?

I hadn't seen this actually. Wierd. I don't use MacUpdate verymuch anyway. Everything autochecks for updates these days.

Actually, I hadn't used Softpedia. I'll have to check them out.

I was using Version Tracker but in truth, nowadays I don't use it much either. Like greenamp says, once I have the app, it will usually autoupdate, and I don't install anywhere near as much shareware as I used to.

I still use it. I didn't happen to visit when they had the weird Christmas thing up, and it didn't bother me that much when I heard about it. It was just a slightly odd joke, as I recall.

Yeah if it was just a one time thing maybe it really isn't such a big deal. Still, I found it a bit creepy. It was definitely more than simply saying "Merry Christmas and glad tidings to you" at the top of the page or whatever.

I doubt many. There are many anti-religious zealots on the web. But not so many that would actually stop using it because of it.

Not at all, if it was the same circumstances. ie. Some heavy handed pro-gay forced advertising before you were allowed into the site (which has absolutely nothing to do with that), just because.

IMO, they crossed the line.
