Actually, I hadn't used Softpedia. I'll have to check them out.
I was using Version Tracker but in truth, nowadays I don't use it much either. Like greenamp says, once I have the app, it will usually autoupdate, and I don't install anywhere near as much shareware as I used to.

Who's greenamp? Too many greens around here. I'll have to knock off the rest of them to avoid confusion....

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE GREEN!!!1
The people who met Him knew Him as a hero... a healer... a friend... a teacher... a warrior.
At first, the people were a lot like us-- going through the motions of life, fighting internal battles, trying but failing at doing the right thing. It wasn't life, it wasn't enough for them... [ is it enough for you? ]
Their lives changed when they encountered Green. ( who is Green?)
He accepted them. He loved them. He wanted more for their lives.

I use MacUpdate occasionally. This is the first I've heard of this religion drive. Doesn't matter much to me.

I still use it. I didn't happen to visit when they had the weird Christmas thing up, and it didn't bother me that much when I heard about it. It was just a slightly odd joke, as I recall.

It was last Xmas. Dunno if they did anything like that since.

Yeah if it was just a one time thing maybe it really isn't such a big deal. Still, I found it a bit creepy. It was definitely more than simply saying "Merry Christmas and glad tidings to you" at the top of the page or whatever.
I wonder what's going to happen this Noël.

That meant greenamp does not equal greenG4. Just like 6660 does not equal 6666.

Hmmm... Maybe it's the price of the new Mac Pro Quad? I'm think I'm channeling Jobs. It's almost as if I can reach out and touch Him.

What if someone stopped using something because said owners were gay? I am sure you'd belittle anyone that would do that.
Same instance.
And it was Christmas time when that was posted.

Not at all, if it was the same circumstances. ie. Some heavy handed pro-gay forced advertising before you were allowed into the site (which has absolutely nothing to do with that), just because.
IMO, they crossed the line.

It was Christmas... And it was hardly heavy handed.

It was extremely heavy handed. It would be like my bank forcing its customers to read pro-gay propaganda before they were allowed to access their account information.
That would piss me off royally.
OTOH, my bank partially sponsored the last gay pride parade. That doesn't bother me. I'd be perfectly happy if they gave money to the Salvation Army too this Christmas, cuz they do good work.

I find it interesting that some advertisers were very pissed off at MacUpdate at this. Mind you, it seems like they were pissed off at MacUpdate anyway. MacUpdate claimed SmallDog pulled their advertising... before SmallDog pulled their advertising... so SmallDog pulled their advertising.

Oh, you mean like the 2 male mannequins holding hands in the Gap's front display window? Doesn't bother me at all. But, if it did I'd just stop shopping there. I wouldn't raise a fit like a little girl over it.

Where have I raised a fit? I just said I stopped "shopping" at MacUpdate, cuz they weirded me out.
P.S. You seem pretty quick to condemn, considering yours and Kevin's are the two strongest reactions in this thread.

It's funny that you assume that I was saying that YOU were the one having a fit. Very interesting...

I use it once in a while, I wish they had software ranking on the site when you search, instead you have to click on a title to see that is has one start or whatever.

I asked a question about how many people still use that site, after realizing I have used that site in over 6 months and after recently coming across that Drunkenblog article. (It's old, but I saw it for the first time yesterday.)
You guys then freaked about about the question I asked. What can I say?
Others just come in and post to say that they do or don't use it. I fine with both answers. Come to think of it, maybe I should have made a poll...

This is a discussion board, I thought this would be a good topic to weigh in on. If you don't like it, piss off. Most people had already yawned the situation away, but it's interesting to see who still wants to tear open old wounds.

You don't see it as slightly odd that Eug starts a message on a "discussion board" then you tell him to knock it off and then tell me it is a "discussion board" and to "piss off" if I don't like it?
Perhaps you need to listen to your own advice professor.

Did I tell him to "knock it off"? No, you're putting words in my mouth (not surprising, and quite typical). I just want to know why something like this would get dredged up after 8 months. I'm sure it isn't for MacUpdate's benefit.

Well why don't you go ponder it and come back when you have a brilliant answer.
In the mean time feel free to play bigshot in another thread. (was that surprising and typical as well?)

It couldn't have been 'surprising and typical as well' if nothing else was 'surprising and typical' in the first place.
