It would be ironic if a civil war broke out in Iraq --as US and UK are saying it may-- and Sunnis took back control of the country.

Iraq/Mesopotamia has historically been an anomally, with a Sunni minority ruling a subjugated Shi'ite majority, this has been going on for nearly a millenium.

So if a full scale civil war occurs, could the Sunnis take over the country again? Would the US support this? Is it not ironic that the US is killing the Sunni insurgents who might be the country's only hope for a secular, stable future?

Another question: do you think this is even possible? Or have the Sunnis been too decimated from all the fighting?
