Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.

They might not have actually done it.

The medics, Palestinian Ashraf Alhajouj and Bulgarians Snezhana Dimitrova, Nasya Nenova, Valentina Siropolu, Christiana Valcheva and Valia Cherveniashka have pleaded not guilty and said they had been beaten or tortured to make them confess.
This is not uncommon practice in some areas of the world. One can only take so much before they confess. Salem Witch Hunt?

After the court session ended, defense lawyer Othman Bizanti told Reuters: "We see this spread of AIDS as a result of malpractice at the hospital, and we have many proofs of that. It's the opposite of what the local experts said."
This could quite possibly mean that these six weren't the only ones responsible, if they were at all.

By no means am I trying to justify actions of this sort. I find it sick and disgusting. However, reading the article a bit more leads me to believe that thier is a possiblilty that the accused are innocent.

Sadly, this is not the first such event, and will probably not be the last. Almost as long as AIDS has existed, there have been a small number of sickos who use their disease as a weapon. They deliberately infect others, typically without their victims' knowledge. Exactly why someone would do such a thing varies from person to person. For most, though, it seems to be an act born of desperation: the rationale goes that if more people have the disease then more money will go to researching it, and that research might produce a cure in the perpetrator's lifetime.

Personally, I see no reason for all the media attention. I'd be perfectly content to treat people who do this as common (if prolific) murderers and be done with it. No extra attention, and no extra publicity.

It's more than likely revenge most of the time. Someone ****ed you up, so **** everyone else up too.

They found out early, so maybe some of the kids won't contract HIV. I heard that if you take enough retrovirals immediately following infection, you might not contract HIV.

The problem with the HIV virus is that it has a sugar around it's protein sheath.
Making it invisible to retrovirals.

It's like Aclovir and lycine. It dissolves the protein sheath of the virus.
It's what's used to combat herpes infections and viral hepatitis.

Libya would free them if paid $5.5 billion?

nurses infect over 400 children with AIDS?

nurses paid by CIA and Mossad to do it?

doubt it's true

more likely the kids had AIDS from birth and parents/country don't want to accept that.

Is "retroviral" the right word for that? I thought that word meant "of or relating to a retrovirus."

Retroviral drugs, maybe? Or perhaps anti-retrovirals? I'm not sure what the right term is.

Revenge is when you get back at the person who wronged you. This is not payback, it's "hurt someone else," and usually a completely innocent person.

I've heard stories of people who found out they had one or another form of VD and decided they'd "show everyone" by intentionally infecting others. Those who were vocal about this were usually discovered and thoroughly punished (most of the stories I've heard were about sailors in "exotic ports."). That's just stupidity.
