Indian police step up security around Taj Mahal
Last Update: 8/18/2006 2:22:11 PM
LUCKNOW, India (AP) - Sandbag bunkers are being set up around India's famed Taj Mahal amid a threat to blow it up.
Anti-terrorist police have taken up positions. And tourists are being warned not to carry any liquids to the white marble building, not even bottles of water.
Indian authorities say the threat comes in a handwritten letter purporting to be from an al-Qaida associate and also warns of attacks on busy markets in the nearby city of Agra.
One official in the northern Indian state says police are skeptical but "cannot afford to be complacent."

I think they should protect the Taj Mahal from being damaged.
And as soon as the Indians get out of Palestine...er, no that won't work Er, Iraq...no that's not right. Somebody please tell me the excuse for attacking India.
We all are trying to deny it's because of the Koranic command to global jihad so we have to invent fake reasons.
So what's the fake reason for India?

Are you serious? Hindus and Muslims have been at each other's throats in India for hundreds of years.
But it is strange that they would choose to attack the Taj Mahal which was built by Shah Jahan, a Muslim, as a shrine for his wife.

Well, obviously, this "global jihad" of abe's has been going on for hundred of years. And, Britian must be in on it, since in the creation Pakistan and India, Britian once again drew borders that separate peaceful groups, join conflicting groups, and leave undefined areas that highly desired by both groups.
Of course, Abe is only aware of the history that supports his PoV. He probably isn't aware that India attacks Pakistan as often as Pakistan attacks India.

Incedentally, it's also the reason India attacks Pakistan.
But, at least the US doesn't support the Pakistani government, which is charged by India with supporting Islamic insurgents in India ...
oh wait ...

Dear Readers,
I'm reminded of Hagia Sophia.
Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia (Church of Holy Wisdom), now known as the Ayasofya Museum, is a former Eastern Orthodox church converted to a mosque in 1453, converted into a museum in 1935, in the Turkish city of Istanbul. It is universally acknowledged as one of the greatest buildings of the world and sometimes considered the Eighth Wonder of the World. Its conquest by the Ottomans at the fall of Constantinople is considered one of the great tragedies of Christendom by the Greek Orthodox faithful.
The name comes from the Greek name Αγία Σοφία, a contraction of Ναός της Αγίας του Θεού Σοφίας (Church of the Holy Wisdom of God). It is also known as Sancta Sophia in Latin and Ayasofya in Turkish.
WIKIPEDIA
The Church of Hagia Sophia, associated with one of the greatest creative ages of man, was also the Cathedral of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople for more than one thousand years. Originally known as the Great Church, because of its large size in comparison with the other churches of the then Christian World, it was later given the name of Hagia Sophia, the Holy Wisdom of Christ, the second person of the Holy Trinity.
Justinian conceived the grandiose project of rebuilding the Great Church from its foundations. Nothing like it was ever built before or after. Construction work lasted five years [532-537] and on December 27, 537, Patriarch Menas consecrated the magnificent church.
[...]
On Tuesday, May 29, 1453, Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror entered the vanquished city late in the afternoon and rode to Hagia Sophia. He was amazed at its beauty and decided to convert the Cathedral into his imperial mosque. http://www.patriarchate.org/ecumenic...ia_sophia.html

There may be some controversy surrounding the origins of the actual building, with some evidence suggesting that it's 300 years older than Shah Jahan's reign.
BBC - h2g2 - The Taj Mahal and the Controversy Surrounding Its Origins
Kashmiri separatists allegedly threatened to blow it up in 2001. India was going to camouflage it with black cloth so that the Pakistani Air Force wouldn't be able to find it--imagine that, not find it?--in case of war with Pakistan.

There've been nuts around ever since the beginning of time. No culture and no religion is immune from insanity.
