Just like most threads in the Pol/Lounge - a lot of personal opinions, the truth is something else...

Too many options. You forgot to include 15 months, 7 days, 14 hours, 28 minutes, and 30 seconds.

Is it sillier than "An Interesting 'Coincidence' Found in Genesis 6:11" or the roast of William Shatner?

Our "couch politics" fill too much of the MacNN forums anyways. Not that I'm complaining.

Psssst...by the way...I'm the two years guy.

It doesn't become independent until the US leaves. And then, it will likely not remain as an single entity. The sectarian divisions are deep and long-running ... and it will take either an authoritative regime (e.g., Saddam Hussein) to put a lid on the ethnic tensions and keep the country under control, or the country will end up being divided into 3 ethnic-based regions (Kurdish, Shia, and Sunni). Perhaps those regions will remain "officially" one country with a weak central government, or perhaps we end up with three different countries. Regardless, I don't see a single, centralized, Western-style democracy taking root once the US leaves.

5 -8 years before Iraq devolves into multiple entities of varying autonomy.

1. Kurdistan
2. Wahhabistan (sunni)
3. Iranistan (shi'ite)
4. Republic of Texaco
