Judging by some of the threads I thought we might need a reminder:

There will be a lot of crap-flinging this year as our "illustrious" political leaders try desperately try to either hold onto or gain control of our congress.

99.9% of the rhetoric will either be a flat out lie, a gross exaggeration, or a new spin on old accusations.

Don't get too caught up in all of this. Sometime we really WANT to believe what the people we voted for or those that we otherwise agree with, but that is a mistake.

In an election year their goal is either one of two things:

• to make you believe that if you vote for the other side you world as you know it will be ruined forever.

or…(and this is a biggy)

That the political scene is so screwed up that you will be soooo turned off by it that you will either not even bother to vote, or at least not think too much about your vote. They call this "muddying the waters"

So please, let's get out political fix in moderation, get it from as neutral a source as we can, and temper our thoughts and opinions with experience and common sense.
"Altruism is killing America. We who want to save America must repudiate this killer, root and branch. We must understand and explain to others that the acceptance of altruism necessitates the violation of individual rights... and that the arguments for altruism are baseless..."

The political scene really is screwed up. That's not really a lie.

Then we'll all join in with 80% of the populace.

What? And miss out on a JEOPARDY game answer?

Alex Trebeck: Nicko, your turn.

Nicko: Six syllable words for two hundred, Alex.

Alex: The answer is 'mojoaberarden.'

Nicko: What six syllable word means excellence in posting at MacNN?

Alex: WELL DONE, NICKO!

*AUDIENCE APPLAUDS*

Alex: Though you are still in 3rd place, your turn to go again.

Nicko: I'm a sucker for "Canadian men" for a hundred.

Alex: (IN A STAGE WHISPER) Shhh, Nicko wait until after the show for that.

Nicko: Er, that's the category title Alex, "Canadian men."

A much better Jeopardy answer:

"What's the difference between you and a mallard with a cold? One's a sick duck — and I can't remember the rest, but your mother's a whore."

Don't think so. They didn't go from $3.26 a gallon down to - let's see where I'm at - $2.19 a gallon.

Up and down $1 at this time of the year every year?

No way.
