Even the Republicans are pissed. Bad news for the GOP in the Midterms.

2000: Bush can't possibly get elected. I mean, listen to the guy, who'd vote for that?
2004: Bush is as good as gone, more people are determined to get to the voting booth and vote him out, now that they've seen what he's all about.
2006 Forecast: Bush's poll numbers are abysmal and the Repubs will reap the consequences.
Somehow I'm not inspired.
The most I can say about a possible Democrat takeover is that they'll ignore the illegal alien problem better then the Republicans.

um, have any of you guys checked out the latest polls?
I hate to be the one to tell you (ok that's a lie) but the Republicans are currently dominating the Democrats - and not by just a little bit.
I'm surprised, to be honest. Surprised there are so many people with common sense.

I want to see the GOP go down more than anyone...all logic says they will...if there is justice in this world they will...if God exists they will.......but I don't know if it'll happen.. I'm not sure we've bottomed out yet....and that's what it'll likely take. It can still get much worse.

Yeah, I saw your failed attempt at trying to prove I flip-flopped. As I recall, you got it wrong and then disappeared from the thread.
And no, I think somebody else said polls were crap except for election day.
I think I said the polls showing Kerry ahead by 4 points turned out to be crap.
None of that changes the fact that Democrats have become a complete failure in the last decade.
edit: but I'm sure that's because of voter fraud, scare-mongering Republicans, and a vast neo-con conspiracy. It's either that or a failed liberal ideology.

Once again Spliff your wrong, dead wrong.
I think Spliff is talking about the polls results that he gets from little green footballs, and other right-wingnut websites.
Spliff, I hate to tell you but polls in the real world(not the right-wing world the nut-bars live in) are all showing the Dems ahead.
There are many people with common sense, that's why they are voting Democratic in Nov.

For someone without a political backbone in the first place flip-flopping reveals or confirms weakness.
For someone with firm convictions to change his mind or deviate from a well established course shows flexibility.

heh.
By a 41 percent to 38 percent margin, likely voters say if the election were held today, they would choose the Democratic candidate in their district. In late August, Democrats had a 16-point lead in the generic Congressional vote among registered voters and an 18-point edge a month ago.
It's all about the momentum.
From a 16 point lead to a 3 point lead (with a margin of error of 4%) in one month.
I'd say things look bad for the Dems.
Historically, fewer Democrats actually make it to the polls as compared to Republicans. Even moreso when it's a congressional election year.
I haven't been wrong about election predictions. Call it a sixth sense.
The most interesting thing is *this* would be the time for a huge Democrat takeover - if ever there was a time in US history. How would you explain the rather poor showing of Democrats? Wasn't this supposed to be a one-sided rout by the Dems?
The most important issue to voters this year is the war in Iraq. I think that's what hurting the Democrats. Their opposition to the war and their fascination with Dubya has left the Dems with no new ideas of their own. They give us no reason to vote for them - other than the fact that they're not Republicans.
"So how do Americans feel about the most important issue? Just over half (51 percent) support the U.S. war in Iraq and 44 percent oppose it.|"
It's gonna be awfully difficult for the Democrats to pull a majority of the votes with those 51% of Americans against them.
You hafta look at the big picture, not just a few still photographs. Understand what's important to most Americans - whether you agree with them or not. And always remember, *momentum* is a big heavy thing. Takes a long time to start, and even longer to stop.
Good luck in November. Who knows, I might actually be wrong this time. But that never happens.
Oh yeah, Newt Gingrich in '08. I predicted that months ago. Write that down.

You said polls were worthless because they showed Gore leading on election day.. he did win the popular vote. That being in a thread that you started around a poll made it all the more funnier. Now you denying it all is hi-larious!
Nice revisionist memory there.

By Jill Lawrence and Susan Page, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON — Amid falling gas prices and a two-week drive to highlight his administration's efforts to fight terrorism, President Bush's approval rating has risen to 44% in a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. That's his highest rating in a year.
The poll also showed likely voters evenly divided between Democratic and Republican candidates for Congress, 48%-48%. Among registered voters, Democrats had (edit: note the word "had") a 51%-42% advantage.
USATODAY.com - Poll finds rebound in Bush approval
Momentum, young grasshoppers.
And look...it's a USA Today Gallup poll. As liberal as polls get.
The Dems should have taken my advice. Oh well, they're getting accustomed to losing elections by now. It's almost as if they like it.

Once again... the only polls that are relevant are the election results.
That's not to say that we can't all have some fun with them in the meantime. But they don't decide anything.

November will bring a harsh reality to the Dems.
But then, so did the previous Novembers.
At some point you have to admit your party has failed, it's message has been rejected - instead of blaming "neo-cons" and "dangling chads" and "voter fraud".
You've got the support of all the socialist nations, our mainstream news media and the UN - yet for some silly reason you lack the support of Americans.

Are you really this simpleton kobi? Is this the manifestation of progressive ideology? Looks like we're all losers in November.

For democrats to have some success in November and in order to have, IMO an important system of checks and balances, we're going to need to see ideas. Again, it seems the ones in need of seats this year are stuck in the quagmire of opposition w/ few ideas of their own. I hate to keep parroting this sentiment, but at some point Democrats are going to have to snap out of it. We know what you're against.
What are you for???

Which were the long term result of Reaganomics BTW. Or at least could be argued as such.
It could also be argued that GW Bush inherited the current slow economy and world conflicts from previous presidents.
