Hillary Clinton caught in yet another lie:
Years after alternative media pointed out the virtual impossibility, Sen. Hillary Clinton finally has admitted she was not named for the famous conqueror of Mount Everest, Sir Edmund Hillary.
The New York Times, which repeated the claim as fact in a story just one week ago, reported Sen. Clinton's campaign issued a correction yesterday.
"It was a sweet family story her mother shared to inspire greatness in her daughter, to great results I might add," said spokeswoman Jennifer Hanley.
For more than a decade, Sen. Clinton's informal biography repeated the story, and it was recounted in former President Bill Clinton's 2004 autobiography, "My Life."
The problem with the tale, however, is one of timing. Sir Edmund and his Sherpa guide, Tenzing Norgay, became known to the world only in 1953, after becoming the first men to reach Everest's summit. Sen. Clinton was born in 1947.
Nevertheless, Clinton recounted to the press her meeting with Sir Edmund in 1995, during an Asian tour, in which she told the mountain climber how her mother had named her.
"It had two l's, which is how she thought she was supposed to spell Hillary," she said. "So when I was born, she called me Hillary, and she always told me it's because of Sir Edmund Hillary."
She just invents her own reality - and history - just like her husband as she goes along.

If the Republicans had something positive for you to point at you wouldn't have to waste your time on this drivel. Mind you, I'd never defend Hillary Clinton.

NOW I like you a LOT more, art_director.
(On another note, wish you lived in my home town...I'd hire you to come and help me figure out how to decorate my house...I need some talent and art directors are good at that.)

LOL...
IMHO, if the Democrats are foolish enough to run Hillary, they deserve to lose the White House for another eight years.
Yesterday she (Hillary) was in town stumping for Patty Wetterling. If I had known ahead of time I would have made up an enormous sign and protested her appearance. I honestly dislike her as much or more than I dislike Bush and Cheney.

That's your ESP, your ability to look deep into a person's soul? Hillary C is now almost universally acknowledged to be a very good Senator for her state. And I believe you said earlier that you voted for Bush in 2000; forgive me if I don't have much confidence in your ability to read people.

My vote in 2000 was more a vote against Gore than it was a vote for Bush. That, my friend, is the way I saw it. Yes, Bush is a clown and I regret giving him support.
Hillary Clinton is a lightning rod. If the Democrats run her they risk losing swing voters and many, many, many Democrats.

You changed you post ,,,
Clinton moved to New York with the sole intent of taking that seat -- it was to satiate her ego and quest for power. Recently Al Franken moved back to MN for, in my opinion, the same reason. He's sitting out this race but rest assured, he'll run if he sticks around. Like Hillary he just wants a little ego boost. I can't stand that type of opportunistic move.

I added to my post because I kept thinking of more reasons to smack you down.
You have a gut negative instinct about Hillary Clinton. OK. But the fact that she's now considered a very good senator is exactly why I think it's a bad idea to vote on gut instincts about individuals' personalities - the party they belong to, and where they as individuals appear to be taking their party, are much more important, IMO. And it's virtually impossible, IMO, to get an accurate read of a candidate's character and how it will translate into policies. It's good to be independent, but I wish independents would vote on ideology and strong political positions rather than wishy-washy personality judgments.
And BTW, how many politicians don't run for office to boost their egos?

Yup.
I used to love HC, and was looking forward to her being the first female president.
I determined this to be a wishy-washy character assessment as soon as she started in with the flag burning crap.
Good Christ, let's abandon the First Amendment so I can pull a few swing votes? Truly frigging pathetic.

Good point, I agree it's pathetic. But is it really enough of an issue to make you not vote for her? There are much more important considerations...
I certainly wouldn't vote for her just because she's female, though I know some people who would.

1. IMO HC's poor performance when Bill gave her the healthcare debacle to solve was evidence of her inability to effectively represent the needs and wishes of the people.
2. I think having so many lawyers running our nation is a very bad idea. Attorneys are trained to find problems, not solutions. Reference the burecratice mess that is the federal government for proof.
3. Love her or hate her, HC is a Democrat's Democrat. I'm tired of partisan BS. We NEED leaders who can work together, overcome their differences and effect change. Given the remarkably low approval ratings of all branches of our government it's safe to say my opinion may be shared by others.
The woman draws a line in the sand then fixes her makeup. A good leader she is not.

Poor performance? I wasn't living here at the time, but it was my impression that Congress was entirely opposed to even entertaining the possibility, as they were for giving Clinton a chance during his first little while in office. Did he even have a so-called honeymoon period?
The fact that there has been very little offered in reform since then (to my knowledge) is perhaps telling, considering that most would agree that the health care system in this country is pretty damn broken.

I agree with you, but at this point it doesn't seem like we have an incredible selection of politicians to choose from. Her drawing a line attempts I feel (like anybody else's) are the byproduct of a highly polarized time, where she would be slaughtered for not being tough enough, and it is very easy to be simultaneously too polarizing will being tough. All I'm saying here is that perhaps all of your criticism shouldn't rest solely on her shoulders.

If I could be somehow assured that this type of thing wouldn't "jump" to other issues as her self-interest dictated.
Really. This should be a huge red flag.
Edit: I wouldn't vote for Condi in any situation, though I could be convinced to vote for McCain. Likely, I would vote Libertarian.

Politicians all pursue their best interests, unfortunately... It's often a matter of choosing the lesser of the evils on the menu.

Agreed. Though there is a matter of degree. For instance, I thoroughly disagree with his politics, but Pat Buchanan is a pretty straight shooter.
If HC runs and her opponent isn't McCain (or maybe Giuliani now that I think about it), the lesser of evils will likely be the Libertarian, though from the moment she declares, I'll give her a fair shot if she doesn't continue to pander so egregiously.
Swing voters are mentally deficient. The party should tell them to go **** themselves.
We are sodomite loving baby killers. Take it or leave it.

Okay, all of these really dumb partisan/I heart Fox News repetitive threads, and the conversational patterns are starting to bore me.

I really didn't like Bush or Gore. I was one of them Nader hippies. Then the next time, the Democrats put up Kerry, and I found myself wondering, "Do they secretly want me to vote for Bush?"

I voted for Brown. Think "anarchist with a credit card".

Right after the first debate I realized that I could have answered the questions better than both of them.
This isn't an indicator of how smart I think I am, it was more of a "if this is where we're at, we are in some deeeeep ****" kinda moment.

You mean Harry Browne? Huh. Me too.
And as far as Hilary repeating the story she was told by her parents - it's not a lie. She just repeated the facts as she knew them.
I'm no Hilary fan, but I try to be consistent. This isn't a lie, just like, say, a President listening to all his sources telling him someone has weapons of mass destruction, which turns out not to be reality.
Not a lie. Retelling of a story trusted sources provided...

The same.
You caught me on the spelling though. I knew absolutely nothing about him as a candidate other than his party affiliation.
You can do wacky stuff like that when you are assured they won't win.
Edit: When it comes right down to it I agree with about 4/5 of what the Libertarians have to say, but I really disagree with the other 1/5. However, I grew up in Chicago, where everybody's a Democrat if you know what I mean. This doesn't bug me too much because there is about 2/5 overlap between the Libertarians and Democrats, and it's the hard-drinkin', hard-smokin' 2/5.
Edit2: Plus, and even though this is flamebait, it's the truth. I have such a moral issue with the disgusting beast the Republican Party has become I can't in good conscience be associated with them. I'm proud of that other 2/5 that overlaps what I would call a "Goldwater Republican", but that ideal is deader than a hole in the ground.

Obviously Bush can't run again, unless Congress changes the two term limit, which, certainly is not beyond this Congress. Regardless, if the Dems run Hillary I will put most any Republican candidate's sign in my yard to get people to vote against her. OK, not just any Republican, but a sane one. Oh wait, are there any?

I'm surprised that you've been sharing all of these gut feelings with us so fervently...
Why not make the case that her being out for her own self-interests is some sort of unique quality, or a quality that would be detriment to the country moreso than the status quo?

Case in point. Many people hate Hillary but don't know why they do. People love to hate Hillary. She is the "Ice Cube" of politics.
