Actually, this sounded like a good idea. Everytime a gunman has entered a school in the past few years and students have been obedient, they've ended up molested, dead or both. I don't usually support this kinda thing, but it just seemed like a reasonable solution. However, the effort was stopped by a few phone calls from some concerned parents who believed the tactic, if used, could actually end up getting their kids hurt or killed. Maybe, but it seems much more likely students would get killed by doing nothing.

I've got to agree with Zeeb on this. When someone walks into a classroom with a gun, it is no longer safe to assume that they'll respond to reasonable dialogue. Better that the gunman go down by himself, rather than going down and taking multiple students with him.
