Hmmm...

It's my belief that this video shows an abuse of the White House website to change the meaning of a speech made by President Bush after the fact. It's deceiving and tax dollars should not be used in such ways.

It's quite interesting, really. Because you don't recognize that fact doesn't change it.

I recognize that a video has been cropped for political reasons. Happens all the time. I don't see why anyone should care.

Expalin it to me. If this were the only source of that video, then I'd grant you a point. It's not. That speech will always be remembered for that banner. So what grave political implications are you alluding to? I care about real issues.

In no post did I say it had 'grave political implications.' Kindly refraion from putting words in my mouth.

To me the interesting part is that the White House is using tax dollars to put that up and doctor / crop it to their advantage. That changes the full meaning of the video. It's deceptive and inaccurate. You can rest assured that if Dollar Bill Clinton had done something similar FOX News would have created a mini series about it.

Exaggerate much? And what tax dollars - you think it takes money to do that to a video? Certainly it's a dumb thing to do, but if I cared about single every dumb thing the feds do I'd have little time to care about anything else.

Good government stands by its mistakes as well as its triumphs. Only cowards cover their tracks. George Bush is obviously a coward.

Maybe, and I'm just spitballin' here, the black bar covers up the banner/ticker/crawl from a news network from which the footage was obtained? It looks like about the same size.

It's not like nobody remembers the "Mission Accomplished" banner.

Besides, even if they did take it out, what difference does that make? Maybe it would get some people to put aside assumptions about what "Mission Accomplished" means and actually listen to what he says in the speech.

And what does he say? Major combat operations in Iraq have been completed. Which is entirely true, since now it has shifted to training of the Iraqis, security, etc.

Methinks some people are way to conspiracy minded.

Actually, in the youtube video, if you pan in the video to the part where the guy is showing the video and the still picture you'll notice that the angle of the camera is vastly different and that the banner probably wouldn't have been in the shot at all. It's all a matter of camera perspectives.

I can only guess the video was formatted that way for possible subtitles or other nefarious reasons.

This guy has a long history of harassing me and posting very rudely. I am amazed the mods don't ban him.
