I must admit, all of this talk about bipartisan politics and our politicians working together is absolutely delightful. I've been wanting this (and our discussion in here) to be this way for years.

My pragmatic and cynical side says that all of this talk is just a charade. What do you think, do you think there is some sincerity in these promises, or is it just politicians looking out for their best interests as usual?

How about discussion in here? Can we transition away from the stupid reactionary partisan knee-jerk generalizations and rants, or are we not ready yet? I'm not talking about Abe's version of this either, where we pretend to extend an olive branch only to explain to the other side why their thinking is all wrongheaded and then go off on more tirades.

Maybe we could create a new section in here for political tirades and partisan rants? I would love it if we could start to can these sorts of dumb conversations and remarks. Any idea how we can do so?

I just want government to be gridlocked so they don't pass any more laws. Anytime the two parties gather together in a "bipartisan fashion", it usually ends up in a decrease of our freedoms.

Patriot Act
Real ID Act
Campaign Finance Reform
War in Iraq

And the list goes on

It's crap. The same day Bush says that stuff, he puts Bolton up for nomination again. Thus, empirical evidence that Bush is just putting on a show for the mushy middle.

I hope that the Dems are putting on a show. They don't have enough time to dicker with the Reps who broke so many aspects of our nation over how to make it right. I mean, I would prefer less partisan government and all, but playing nice with the @ssholes who caused the problem isn't going to make things better, it's just going to invite a backstabbing.

This is the honeymoon period right now. Democrats and Republicans have nothing better to do but make love to each other in the press. When the honeymoon's over and they realize that they don't get to spend their entire life at the all-inclusive resort, but get to go home and share the same crappy bed they've slept in their whole careers, then we'll see how soon the divorce papers come!

Bolton all but single handedly kept the UN out of prohibiting the ownership of military style firearms in the US.
**** the UN.

to Bolton.
