The only problem is that they may actually find a way to use this to their advantage. If not, why would they have been videotaping it? I'm just glad they didn't get a clear view of the person who broke their window, so (maybe) no lawsuit.

I would, unfortunately, expect them to use this to attempt a suit against the town it occurred in.

My opinion: They deserve FAR worse, maybe this is an indicator of what their future holds.

Now THIS is how you deal with extremeist fundamentalists.
Take note. This is how it starts.
Hopefully Westboro will be quashed.
All men are created equal, but what they do after that point puts them on a sliding scale.

Lucky for them that the police were there. They would have been mauled otherwise.

Brilliant.

Unfortunately, I bet they're going to use that video as a recruiting tool. "Look at these people, they're so intolerant and hateful! Join us in our crusade to weed out agression... in gays!"

So much for Freedom of Speech. These people are a bunch of marginal nut jobs, and they thrive on attention, and we give it to them. Amazing, how some people are so afraid of those who are different.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

They showed up at a funeral for a soldier from Iraq. I don't think it's reasonable to expect there would be any other kind of reaction from the crowd.

Hmm, only one group appeared afraid in that video, and it wasn't the crowd. Frankly, it was only a matter of time before some crowd somewhere beat the crap out of them.

Ah, the "free speech" meme - well, try yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater sometime. Hell, their "free speech" has been FAR more "respected" than that of the Minute Men (as invited guests) at Columbia University.

As far as recruiting - their entire "congregation" is composzed of one family. Recruiting would tend to mean getting some other poor sap to marry into the clan.

This is nowhere the same as yelling "Fire" in a crowded theatre, where such an action could cause injury or death.

Expressing one's opinion in public doesn't cause anyone to respond, unless they make the choice to do so, and when they do, they are responsible for their own actions, not these marginal nut jobs. If I were at a funeral where these people appeared, I would make the choice to ignore them, as they have no affect on my life or my beliefs, but that's just me.

They've been ignored for several years now - people are fed up with them, and now are exercising their rights to get rid of them - none of them was harmed.

So much for the religious tolerance and free speech rights our country claims to have.

You should see the trouble police have to go through just to keep KKK people from getting the sh*t kicked out of them at a public rally.

Proverbs 16:7

When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

I guess Westboro has a WHOLE LOT of God-pleasing to do !

Gee, I hope they're friendly..........

Almost all of their congregation is made up of their immediate family - most likely it will be used to reinforce the existing congregation's beliefs.

These nut jobs were here last weekend protesting at the funerals of students killed in a bus wreck. The city of Huntsville granted them a permit to protest. The permit constrained the location where they could set up. Then the city parked busses in front of that area so that people coming and going to the funerals could barely see the protesters.

This is a good way to deal with them. Within the constraints of the law. Not violent actions.
