People in highly taxed countries better off: report.

Ok, fewer people report being very happy, and the suicide rate is higher, but the northmen are "better off?"

"Equality of income distribution' is a blatantly political metric.

"The United States spends over twice as much of its GDP on health care than Finland (15 per cent versus 7.4 per cent), and yet U.S. health care outcomes remain far worse — indeed, worse than most other industrialized countries," it says.
That's because the US combines the worst aspects of gov't control with few of the benefits of private control. (But that's for another discussion).

I'm gonna poke thru these guy's website, but they sound like typical "progressive" think-tanks: dull. http://www.policyalternatives.ca/index.cfm

I thought scandanavian Season Affective Disorder had more to due with suicides and that type of thing than socialism did.

SAD is usually linked to depressive symptoms like low energy and sleep dysregulation, but rarely suicide or self-harm.

Sleep disregulation and "low energy" will result in acute depression for those who are prone to depression.

But anyway, for the low vs. high taxes. I'm in one of those Nordic countries, I'm probably in the top 30% in income and I pay about 27% in taxes. Would that be "high" in most other countries? (honest question because I haven't got a clue).

Top rate in UK is 40%. But when you add up all the stealth taxes it comes to more like 60%.

Depression and 'SAD' are not remotely related. 'SAD' is not depression, it superficially appears like depression. No correlation between those who are depressed or prone to depression and 'SAD'.

SAD is caused by light deficiency. Depression, well you know more about that, don't you mr. myoglobin.

There are depressed people in Spain, but there are no people with SAD in Spain.
