» MySpace and News Corp Sued by Families Whose Daughters Were Assaulted - Light of Reason
How can you hold myspace responsible? If I receive a Nigerian email in a Yahoo! account and fall victim to the scam, can I sue Yahoo!? I don't think so.
Where were the parents and why did they let thier daughters meet these people?
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

14 and 15 is old enough to know better. Seriously.
What the hell did they think was going to happen? Meet Prince Charming™?
I'm not blaming the victim, but they sure put themselves in the way of danger.
And I too want to know where the parents were.
This is what can happen when parents give too much freedom to their children.
And haven't taught them about the monsters in the shadows.
All men are created equal, but what they do after that point puts them on a sliding scale.

It would be just as appropriate to place the blame on the parents for neglect. Everyone knows there are predators online. Letting your kid spend hours and hours unsupervised on the web is an unresponsible thing to do.

There are few parents who want to take responsibility and say that they didn't do their job. In the US, you are supposed to blame and sue others.... :/

Are today's teenagers more stupid now than they ever were in my time.

At least, my parents knew where I was and today they would supervised my computer activities.

Do not put computers in your children's bedroom but in a common room where everyone can see what they are doing at all time of the day. Get to know their passwords and the pictures they post of themselves.

Yes, those girls thought they were meeting prince charming because they are stupid little girls with irresponsable parents. And why were they not told that they were stupid for meeting adults male and taking such a huge risk. Instead, I am sure they were told it is ok you don't have to take any responsibilities in your life.

I'm sorry...you're suing a website because you didn't know your teenaged daughter was meeting people off fricking internet? Are you insane?

What's even stupider is that they'll probably win, and MySpace will be forced to plaster "DON'T AGREE TO MEET PPL FROM MYSPACE WHO YOU DON'T KNOW IRL" on every page in big, bold, red letters.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...
