Jessica Lange is determined to carry on her anti-war and anti-President George W. Bush stance - even though it almost cost her her life. The actress has opposed the war since US troops first went into Iraq, and she reveals her views have made her a hate target for pro-war, pro-Bush Americans. The 57-year-old says, "George W. Bush really has whipped up the most poisonous scenario of neighbor against neighbor over the war in Iraq. It's disgusting. There were times when it was really lovely to be out there and against the war. But then I had anti-war stickers on my car and some big f**king pick-up with an American flag tried to drive me off the road. It was scary and I was scared." She even accuses the media of picking on her, adding, "My anti-war work started four years ago when the drums were beating. The few of us who really spoke out at the time took such a beating in the press - even the liberal press - and on CNN; I was on a CNN news program with an arms inspector who had been in Iraq, and we were treated like s**t."
Ummm, no.
This must be some kind of Dem reality distortion field going on, because even from thousands of miles away I can see that it's actually the hardcore anti-Bushies who're whipping up the disharmonious atmosphere, not Bush himself.
It's like when the KKK do a march - it's generally not the KKK who start any violence but rather those who're protesting against them. OK, so the KKK prolly need a bit of violence against them but it don't alter the facts that it's usually the protesters who greatly magnify the "neighbour against neighbour" scenario. That's why they're called protesters - because they protest, usually quite forcefully.
Makes me wonder what Miss Lange was shouting at the pickup driver to piss him off so much that he'd take a swipe. Or whether the event happened in the first place.

So your analogy suggests the pro-Bush crowd is like the KKK (peaceful most of the time) and the `anti-Bushies' are like those protesting against the KKK?
Somehow I think your analogy was, ahem, unfortunate, especially if you want to make an argument for Bush and his supporters.

Yep. Although I was actually thinking of the ANL kicking off at BNP meetings rather than the KKK. I just ported it across the pond so it'd make more sense to the average reader.
Politics aside, what tends to happen is that the BNP have a meeting and everything is peaceful until the ANL turn up. Then the ANL start the violence.
Point being, it's usually the protesters who do more to set "neighbour against neighbour" than whatever it is they're protesting against.
Does Lange really think that pro-Bushers would go out of their way to try to kill her because of a bumper sticker? Sounds like she's bought into leftist hype.

Best I could think of on the spur of the moment to avoid a rule 8 infraction.

@Doofy
You seem to forget that the KKK used to lynch people and harassed scountless others. I wouldn't want to compare the average Bush supporter with this kind of people, but that's just me.

While I won't say that all Bush supporters would do a thing like that, or even think of doing a thing like that, I will say that it's a certainty that there's a distinct minority who would and will. The same goes for the Leftest of the Left whackjobs -- neither "side" has a monopoly on delusional True Believers who might be prone to violence.
Did the incident Ms. Lange described happen? Probably. Was it for the reasons she believes? Possibly. Would that lead a rational person to become, at least temporarily, just a bit more paranoid than they normally might be, and ascribe that sort of behavior to a larger group of people than reality would otherwise suggest? Almost certainly.
Now magnify that by the paranoia one must naturally cultivate upon becoming a celebrity. Looking at all that, well, she doesn't seem any more unhinged than the rest of us would be in a similar situation.
And yes, I'd make the same analysis of a right-leaning celeb in the same sort of circumstances.
Fortunately, there aren't nearly as many right-leaning celebs, so I should be pretty safe from having to make that sorta analysis....

There is a simple solution. Just block him if he is not willing to contribute to discussions in a constructive manner.
@Everyone: I would hope you guys would understand that Doofy used the KKK as an analogy for the benefit of xenophobic Americans who are oblivious to what his happening in other nations. I doubt he is the least bit interested in supporting them.
The BNP is an ultra-nationalist xenophobic/protectionist political party in England similar to the two American parties. They have been accused of being racist simply because they are apparently against immigration.
