A lot of arguments drag on and on (and on) because of a simple failure to understand the four simple propositions of formal logic.

I post them here for the discussion and benefit of the Political War Lounge.

In fact, I would even be prepared to say that almost every instance of racism and bigotry comes down to mistakenly extrapolating an A-type from an I-type affirmative categorical proposition: "Some [Subject] are [Predicate], therefore all S are P". This in turn, is often the result of the availability heuristic (which see).

If not, and I am mistaken, at the very least, I found this a very useful and instructive reference, and I hope you do too.
