I consider myself pretty conservative, but Coulter really is way too far off the deep end. I hate to think that she represents conservatism in the mind of anyone.

I would say she's a fair representative of the type of conservatism that just got gutted like a Marlin in the last election.

Of course, I'd say that form of conservatism is way closer to communism than anything else.

I wonder if whoever decided to destroy the meaning of the word "liberal" realized they were going to get theirs.

Coulter's comment and the laughter in the audience were despicable.

Her next move will be to defend the indefensible and make herself appear the martyr as people respond critically to her being a mean-spirited homophobe. I can hear her saying something like, "... it is a sign of the prevalance of Left values in America that my firm moral stand against the depravity of homosexuality (eyes get big) is attacked by media elites and Democrats." Yuck.

She's a monster. If I were a Democrat, I'd want her to throw her full-throated support behind the Republican front-runner.

She's already tried to defend herself, although certainly not in an honest way. She can't even say she's sorry; in her typical style she has to spin even an apology

Ms. Coulter, asked for a reaction to the Republican criticism, said in an e-mail message: “C’mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean.”

We can also open up the floor to general pundit porn.

I think that's definitely part of Coulter's appeal. She's relatively hot for a pundit... though totally not my type. I hates me the skinny bitches.

I mean, can we come up with a pundit who is hotter than her? I have to say I'm at a loss...

My eyes! my eyes!

I guess calling Edwards a meatball ia 10X more hurtful than calling Bush Hitler, or a Chirsto Facist for that matter. Oh sorry did I mispeak? It was the bloggers on his website that said that.

I do not think "jumped the shark" means what you think it means.

It refers to when something good has gone past its peak. It comes from the Happy Days episode where the Fonz waterski jumps over a shark - because they had to keep coming up with new stunts to show us all how daring the Fonz was, to the point of absurdity.

But all of you who are criticial of Ann Coulter, I really doubt you ever thought she was good, or that she had a peak - you thought she had outlived her usefulness the minute she voiced opinions you found objectionable.

Some of us thought she never had a usefulness . . . even before she opened her mouth.

Apparently there's another dimension to this story that I missed, as moments ago CNN was talking about it and the headline at the bottom of the screen read:

Coulter's Ugly Crack

Not that the information is surprising, I just didn't think CNN was into tit for tat.

Fortunately, no pictures.

Its funny how long it takes some people to realize things. If it took this incident to change one's mind on Ann Coulter then...well...sucks to be you.

Same with Iraq, Global Warming, Gay Marriage, Bush's legacy....i could go on and on....it's obvious to any objective observer what the ultimate judgement will be in each of these cases....but some people are always slower to see the picture develop.

I doubt I'm clairvoyant....but I do wonder sometimes how so many people can't see what's in plain sight. Its pretty depressing actually.

Aha. If Annie had said he was gay, then she mean he's a happy person. Or if she'd have said he's a dick, then she's just comparing him to yet another English 'cuisine'. (not that the English really have any)..

or if she'd have claimed he's a fag, then surely he's a cigarrette.

This is the dumbest defense I have ever read on these forums, now that SimeyTheFaggot has stopped posting.

Hey look! There, I did it too. I just compared that little **** to a meatball.

When I read the comments here in this thread, they appear to attack Coulter's lack of femineity or looks, or her lack of sexual appeal. I'm quite sure liberal PC requires one focus on her mind not her body. That being said, I always thought Coulter had more balls than any liberal. Which puts her in a similar category as Edwards. Edwards just can't speak his mind hiding in the closet of primary season.

And what objectivism are you peddling on Global Warming? And objectively, gay marriage rates pretty low on most peoples list of priorities. Bush's legacy has yet to played out by any objective standard, though objectively, given the hysterical nature of the Democrats, it's been an uphiil climb.

No one in this thread has to attack Coulter's mind. She does that for us.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if one day it came out that Coulter was just another Stephen Colbert, a liberal seeing how well she can do playing a stereotypical conservative. She's just that off the wall.

Not to mention that would be hilarious.

lets put $1000 down. I bet by 2050 all of my predictions come true.

I bet it will be commonly accepted that the Iraq was was unnecessary and among this countries greatest blunders

I bet humans are causing or greatly accelerating the heating of the earth through carbon emissions

I bet two men or two women will be able to legally marry in every state in this country

I bet G.W. will be considered THE worst president ever.

I bet it will be widely accepted that Ann Coulter was a closeted homosexual.

Not true in my case. I started out liking three of the four Ass-Clowns of the Apocalypse (Coulter, O'Reilly and Hannity, never cared for Limbaugh) because they didn't start out as ass-clowns. At some point however, they decided that the disposable income of the FOX news demographic was more important than integrity, so they started upping the ante, and are going to keep upping it until they explode and retire fabulously wealthy.

This has nothing to do with me being a lefty. If anything that makes me hunger for thinking different than mine even more. There are plenty of rightys who aren't ass-clowns. Buckley is still king, but I like Buchannan and Blankley. Scarborough is growing on me. I used to like Snow until he started to suck dev...

Maybe I'll keep that one to myself.

Do you really think America give a cares what people do in the privacy of their homes? Is gay marriage really on your A list of priorities for the next 40 years? So when are you going to start laying down the law to the third world so that they are just going to have to stay third world and like it? What army are you going to support to make sure they comply? What critical analysis have you done to ensure truth to power comes from the bottom up and not from the top down? Probably none because you just figure your good intentions will keep you at the top. I'll disabuse of that notion if I might. You stifle hope, creativity and freedom at your own peril. And no one really gives a sh... where one's dick goes unless it's forced up their own.

Sometimes I wonder what planet you live on. You might want to look at the last few elections; a lot of people voted to put gay marriage bans in their state constitutions, and George W. Bush has called for a federal amendment to ban it as well. I would say that it's on a lot of peoples' top priorities, and that it's always baffling to me why the majority allow a tiny fraction of the population to cause them to spend enormous amounts of money and time on a subject that supposedly doesn't affect them. The answer of course is fear and insecurity in their own beliefs. They've never understood that, if they were secure in their own beliefs, they wouldn't worry about what the two guys or two women next door were doing. Intead they run around preaching that the end of the world is coming if Ken and Bill are allowed to marry, and that if Susie and Mary are allowed to marry it will denigrate the institution of marriage. Are their own marriages so insecure that they didn't really mean their vows? If not, then it doesn't matter what Peter and Paul do. Your last sentence, of course, explains it all, as you end your argument with the telling statement that no one gives a sh1t, as long as it isn't forced up your own, which is really what you fear.

Your post on everybody putting down Ann Coulter due to her looks etc., also speaks volumes, as it was correctly pointed out that only one post made any comments on that, and the rebuttal was also correct in that you seem to project a lot of things that aren't going to happen. Get over your fears; nobody wants to shove their **** up yours, really! I promise.

Also, Moderator's predictions are spot on. The only thing I'll add to that is, by 2050, we are not going to be the world's superpower anymore, as China and India both will surpass us in economic might. You might want to do some research and see what countries are financing our country's existence and how those same countries will no longer need our dollars in a few years, as the rest of the world starts realizing they no longer need us.

KarlG you need to go back to school and learn about 1. Democracy and 2. Referendum. The legislatures, not willing to go against the prevailing mores of the communties put these Gay Marriage initiatives to a direct vote. They were voted down by the people not voted on by the legislatures. And it was the hard work of a politcally active minority which got the signatures to have it put on the ballot. This was a minority
initiative which forced the community to act. Otherwise you would not have had an issue.

That's the best spin I've heard on this issue yet. It doesn't, however, change the facts, which are that a lot of people signed those initiatives to get them on the ballots, and that even more people voted gay marriage down. The minority politically active community got signatures because a majority of people have irrational fears of what their neighbors might do if their neighbor is Ken and Bob, which is directly contradictory to your ludicrous statement that nobody cares what people do in the privacy of their homes. They do care, otherwise they wouldn't have signed the petitions and wouldn't have voted gay marriage down. Obviously you're another one who has never heard of organizations like the American Family Association, and others like it, which rail against hmosexuality and gay marriage constantly. You should get a job at the White House, and replace the press secretary. You'd be damn good at spinning.

Also...the last of the laws banning interracial marriage weren't eliminated until 1967. So to say all of the anti-gay marriage amendments will be struck down by 2050 isn't such a stretch in my eyes.

You only need to look at it on its face to see that it is unconstitutional.

Likewise you only need to listen to Ann Coulter for 30 seconds to know she's acting...she plays the role of the ignorant social conservative to a) make tons of money from ignorant social conservatives and b) to mask that she herself is gay

There's a strong possibility that she is gay. People who scream the loudest on issues like this are often masking a deep unconscious fear that they themselves are what they fear. If they didn't have these fears, they wouldn't need to go on these crusades, as they'd know that the issue doesn't affect them. The "Reverend" Haggard case is a great example of that. He preached hell and damnation from his pulpit about homosexuals, because he had to try as hard as he could to deny his own unconscious urgings. Now he's saying that he no longer has those leanings, which is of course a crock; he's just back in denial.

Another reason that gay marriage will eventually be legal is that the people who voted it down are mostly older people, who tend to be more conservative on issues like this. Polls taken of younger people show that they really don't care, because they have other issues on their minds, and they realize it's none of their business. Older people are more set in their ways, and more likely to see it in black and white terms.

I certainly hope it happens soon. I've walked one daughter down the aisle, and I would like nothing more than to be able to walk the other one down.

And who cares if Coulter is gay? I'll say it again NO ONE CARES if you're gay or not. Many do care about what constitutes marriage. 1% of the population should not be surprised if most people resist such a small minority upsetting the prevailing convention of marriage and family.

Ah, yes. The "roaring" economy, where the gap continually widens between the rich and the rest, where far too many people are making the same wages they were 20 years ago, where the number of people in poverty is rising, where the number of uninsured is rising, where we've burdened our grandchildren with an enormous debt, and which is looking more like it's heading for a recession shortly. That's the economy that's roaring, right? Keep drinking the Kool-Aid, and don't concern yourself with reality.

Funny how hypocrisy is crystal clear to you when you think a Democrat is the hypocrite.

KarlG, life really sucks for you. How can I help lift your spirits? I can get you job if you need one. Need a place to stay? I can help you with that too. When was the last time you had a decent
meal? Tell me what you need and we'll get it done.

There goes that projecting again. Thanks for your concern, but somehow I've made it through 60 years without your help.

You know nothing about me either.

By 2050, $1000 won't be worth too much
