Hillary in the South

I'm not sure what else I can say about this. Her husband was the "first black president," and it's pretty obvious that she's trying to do the same. This is all in front of black congregations and crowds. Fake, fake, fake, fake!

Is there anyone out there who doesn't think this is disgusting? And why don't Democrats ever get called out for speaking in churches? I thought they frowned upon that sort of thing?

On the Democrats-in-churches thing: It's a bit like the difference between letting your 15-year-old daughter give your 9-year-old daughter a hug versus letting a convicted pedophile touch either of them. People are already suspicious that Republicans want to let religion run the country, whereas Democrats have the opposite stigma.

(Note: I'm not saying either of these stereotypes is true. I think the parties are a lot closer to each other than people want to believe. I'm just explaining why people respond the way they do.)

I don't like Hillary. I'd vote for her in a lesser of two evils situation, but I'd rather vote for Obama.

In a situation where Hillary is the lesser of two evils, I'd just shoot myself. I don't want to be there when her opponent raises the dead to wage war against the righteous.

When I was about 12, I started following politics. I hated one party and loved another. Now I hate both parties and feel that I'm forced to choose who is going to cause the least damage to the country, rather than who is going to make America a better place to live. The sad truth is that both parties are too powerful for an independent alternative at this point. I'm so pessimistic over this country's future.

Hillary is just like Bill; an opportunist, who will say whatever they think the people they're addressing want to hear. I'm going to do whatever I can to see that she doesn't get the nomation. I'm also going to let her staff know why she won't get my support. If she does get the nomination, I'm not sure what I'll do, as the people currently in the lead, in both parties, all have the same issues.

I don't have the audio clip, but Obama has become guilty of the same chameleon-esque tactics. He began speaking ebonics while behind a pulpit at a black church during the past few days, while anyone who has ever heard Obama speak knows that he is very well-spoken and could even be considered "white" sounding.

He even compared his great-grandfather in Nigeria to American slaves and got a great pop from the crowd. Someone forgot to tell him that slavery ended ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS AGO!!!

The 2008 presidential election is off to a great start.

I want to see one of the other candidates try the same thing.

I recall a politician that pretends he has a texas accent even though he's from Massachusetts.

I wish George W had tried to speak ebonics (he wasn't going to get the black vote anyways). Or better yet, John McCain.

I was wondering how Obama was going to handle the fact that he is not descended from slaves.

I don't like the guy and I'm a lefty.

So I would say Hillary is not as fake as Obama. But being politicians it doesn't come to left or right to be fake.

fake 1 |fāk| noun a thing that is not genuine; a forgery or sham : the painting was a fake. • a person who appears or claims to be something that they are not. See note at quack . • a pretense or trick : his excuse for coming was a fake. adjective not genuine; counterfeit : fake designer clothing | expressing fake emotions. • (of a person) claiming to be something that one is not : a fake doctor.

You probably don't like Obama because he's not FAKE! Hillary Clintons southern drawl is FAKE!
Bill Clintton the first Black President: FAKE
So if your not decended from slaves and you're black you are somehow FAKE?

As a liberal, who are you supporting at this point in the race for the Democratic nomination, even if they're not officially running yet?

How about her offensive fake Southern accent/drawl.
Dan Akroyd in Driving Miss Daisy fake and offensive.

Life's a b!tch. Don't vote for one.

When I hear her make a speech, she reminds me of a schoolgirl running for student council. The speech is designed to grab, dazzle, impress and amuse you. If someone has substance and something to offer, all they need worry about is projecting that, but she ain't got it (apparently) so she's dabbling in blahblah. If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

"'Jelly Hat' sounds silly," I told Prince. "How about something poetic, like 'Raspberry Beret.'"

Now hold on. I don't think you'll find any of us (liberal Dems here on MacNN) who are lovers of Hillary. And she's not a great speech-maker, like Obama.

But in that clip she was clearly intentionally quoting a southern person, she wasn't trying to pretend she really talks like that. It sounds dumb, particularly out of context, but it wasn't "fake" in the sense of intending to be deceptive.

I wasn't referring to her vernacular. She's clearly reading or quoting someone else. What's hilarious about it is the "Southern" accent that she adopts to read it, along with the very odd inflections that I couldn't identify as anything other than "hilarious."
