Only in AmeriKa right?
Hell, when I was in Germany in the 90's, I heard the n-word more there than I did here in the South.

I rarely hear it uttered around here, but it seems to be popular in YouTube comments sections.

Just seems kind of odd. I've worked with some of the biggest sissies from Germany who wouldn't mow their grass for fear of hurting the local ant population. But when it came to inner city black people, holy ****, would they let loose a tirade or two that would have made David Duke uncomfortable. I don't know if it's movies, mtv or a few bad tourist experiences turning into epic urban legends upon their return, but wow.
Or I guess the soldiers could just be racist assholes.

Everyone isn't racist, but every nation, every city, every town, every place has its racists.
Some of the most blatantly racist people I've ever come across were from the US north east- yet I've met far fewer stereotypical southern racists. I'd wager that more often, people from the south are actually more sensitive to coming off like racist pricks due to overcoming their history, whereas north-easterners may be more likely to think they have a free pass to act like racist assholes with impunity. In fact, a lot of historic northern racism is actually worse and more ingrained than it was in the south, just less publicized since their wasn't also slavery.

I would think that there is a pronounced nationalist, potentially racist, streak among the majority of people joining any country's armed services. If you don't believe in the superiority of your own people, you can't be a good killing machine for your Fatherland.

In officers training school, we weren't taught superiority of race but of equipment and the training the men have with that equipment.
And I didn't allow ANY racism in my wing.

I don't doubt that.
And nobody said it's "taught". Just that people with an innate belief in their own superiority are fairly likely to join the military.
Where these people are, their idiocy is bound to rear its ugly head.

No, I don't think people who join the military believe in their superiority. They may believe in the superiority of the country and the values they're upholding, but I strongly doubt they feel superior individually.

I did not say that people who join the military believe in their superiority.
I said the opposite: I said that people who believe in their own superiority are likely to join the military.
Edit: Just realized that red rocket spoke of the "majority of people joining any country's armed services". I don't subscribe to that idea.
