...And gives him a music box, internet access, and tells him they hope he comes back to visit again in better times.

"When Iranian agents boarded an airplane that made an emergency landing in Tehran, the only Israeli passenger on board feared the worst. Instead, he left with a gift of a wooden music box and an invitation to return when times are better."

I'm sure it's only communist propaganda perpetrated by the liberal media to sap and impurify our precious bodily fluids.
Or mb just good news, for a change.

Iran has to be the most socially inept country in the world. After Japan. I mean, North Korea's govt is legitimately insane. Russia is criminal. Most of Africa is simply numb from the neck up. But the more I read about Iran's attempts to make some kind of political statement to the world, the more I realize their government simply has no social skills.

There are somewhere around 20,000 Jews living in Tehran.

Maybe it was a "Congradulatios on being our 20,001st Jew" prize.

That wouldn't be possible; there is no such word as congradulation.

I would have to agree. This story is just WEIRD. A Turkish Airlines flight has to make an emergency landing in Iran, and somehow the Iranian security forces make a beeline to the only Israeli on board (how and why did they even know he was on board, let alone who he was?) and then seek to make some sort of inane goodwill gesture.
It reminds me of some daffy situation where brown-shirted thugs somehow know to target specifically your house, and throw bricks through the window in the middle of the night.. but awww gee whiz shucks, love poems are attached.

I can only imagine from this comment that you've been to Japan and loved it. Either that or you've never ever been? Help me out, here.

I would say that Japan is the least socially inept... there are protocols for everything.
Socially awkward, maybe.

I submit to your semantic superiority. You're probably more accurate.
A gameshow cohosted by an Iranian Official and a Japanese businessman would be the funniest thing on TV. Better than Gorgeous Tiny Chicken Machine Show. That's right, I said it.

Yes that makes sense. I know the Japanese love their social rules. It still seems strange to lump them in with a comparison with Iran.
