Deryk Schlessinger, son of the infamously moralistic Dr. Laura, a sick son of a beotch (link)
The soldier son of talk radio relationship counselor Laura Schlessinger is under investigation for a graphic personal Web page that one Army official has called "repulsive."
The MySpace page, publicly available until Friday when it disappeared from the Internet, included cartoon depictions of rape, murder, torture and child molestation; photographs of soldiers with guns in their mouths; a photograph of a bound and blindfolded detainee captioned "My Sweet Little Habib"; accounts of illicit drug use; and a blog entry headlined by a series of obscenities and racial epithets.
The site is credited to and includes many photographs of Deryk Schlessinger, the 21-year-old son of the talk radio personality known simply as Dr. Laura. Broadcast locally on 570 KNRS, "Family Values Talk Radio," the former family counselor spends three hours daily taking calls and offering advice on morals, ethics and values. She broadcast a show from Fort Douglas, in Salt Lake City, last week.
And
"Yes . . . F---ING Yes!!!" said one blog entry on the Schlessinger site. "I LOVE MY JOB, it takes everything reckless and deviant and heathenistic and just overall bad about me and hyper focuses these traits into my job of running around this horrid place doing nasty things to people that deserve it . . . and some that don't."
I think "Dr" Laura is a judgmental loser, plain and simple. I think she's an on-air version of a sadist and now we get to see that her son is also. I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

That'd be a great Army campaign.
"Want to be reckless? Want to be deviant? Heathenistic? Don't want to go to jail? Join the Army, and get paid for it!".

Just imagine how much more messed up her kid would have been if she had sent him to daycare. It's a good thing she kept him home to inculcate such high family values.

If you read the Wiki work on Schlessinger, you would find that there is some question as to whether or not her son was actually involved in the web site. I've always thought the she is one fcuked up individual, and the Wiki article highlights a lot of her bizarre changes of beliefs, including religious ones, but I think that's enough to discredit her, as well as her plumetting popularity in the media, without dragging her name through the mud because of an unproven allegation against her son.

Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

No, it's not ok at all. All I'm asking is that you give peace a chance.

I understand that Dr. Laura has not been able to deny these claims on behalf of her son. Apparently he did say them.
My kid (15) plays Halo non-stop and we fight over it. I don't like the violence of war and I don't like the violence of Halo. I think that the lines become blurry for some people, like Schlessinger's son. Maybe he played Halo? I'm not sure. All I know is that I had to sit down with my kid and tell him why he couldn't have Halo 24/7 and why I might decide he can't have it at all.

Maybe this won't be a very popular post, but I actually don't mind Dr. Laura the majority of the time. People call into her show with some very legitimate problems and she gives them good advice. She is straight forward, cuts right to the real problem, and very rarely brings up anything religious.
I admire her directness and advice as it's usually exactly what I would say to the person.
Back on topic: her son is a whack job.

Ok, let's not blame video games. You know who didn't play video games? The psycho who shot up Virginia Tech.

actually one of the funniest things I've seen on TV. the news reporter probing the roommate for answers and hinting that video games could have been the cause of the violent outburst and his roommate finally said "well actually I never saw him play any video games... even once.." the defeated look on the reporter's face was priceless.

That's ridiculous.
If someone is gonna be a ****ed up psycho, it'll happen with or without videogames.
I play videogames a fair bit, including some quite gruesome FPS ones... because they're entertaining. Not because I'm a sick that's gonna shoot up a school.
Be realistic.
