House and Senate Roundup 5/14
by brownsox
Wed May 14, 2008 at 03:17:34 PM PDT
House Races
MS-01: The most significant political news from yesterdaym, by far, was Democrat Travis Childers' commanding victory in the First District of Mississippi.
This is a devastating, crushing, soul-shattering loss for the Republican Party. They had no excuses to lose this race, yet they did, and they lost quite badly. Republican leadership should be absolutely terrified...and it seems they are. (source: Daily Kos)
i find it amusing that the rightwingers at macnn forums NEVER notice their little bubble bursting...americans don't want ANY republicans!!! none!!! they have done SO much damage in their short period of power, america has spoken...GET OUT!!!!

Yeah, it's pretty yawn-worthy now. Meh.
On a more important note, I took delivery of my new M3 coupe today. It's rad.

I'm not sure I trust your definition of "rightwingers". Americans afford the primarily democratic congress as much confidence as they do Bush. Americans generally support wire-tapping and email snooping. Most Americans don't want gay marriage or partial-birth abortion and if news out of Iraq was good, they'd be on board for that too. I'm guessing you won't be trumpeting these good ol' Amerrcn values in your partisan quackery.

I think the idea, ebuddy, is that maybe some Americans have learned a lesson over the last eight years? Stupid economic policies give you a bad economy, inflation, and a plunging dollar. Stupid wars give you greatly reduced US power and hundreds of thousands of extra dead people. Americans can figure this out. This thesis is a bit optimistic, since it clearly doesn't apply to you, but I think it is probably accurate. Not everyone is blindly partisan, and most people can recognize cause and effect.

Tip if the Iceberg in terms of "change". People are caring less about party and more about doing a good job, I have seen this with my own eyes. FL dems will pay for their mistakes too if they don't fix it somehow in denver.

That's how the (D)s took control in 2006. They ran candidates that were to the right of the (R) candidates.

Not entirely true.
In a two party system (occasionally we have a third), you get one or the other. People were tired of one and chose the other. It isn't the first time it happened, nor will it be the last.

Nothing to say. Ah...ah...what to do? Oh yeah, attack the messenger.
And derail the thread.

Look here and honestly tell me it isn't a troll account.
Besides, so what? The seat went to a democrat. And? It was held by a Republican for 14 years, and it changed. It happens.
The Democrats held the seat for over 100 years prior to that. Granted, during that time, Democrats changed significantly. However, the same Democrat held it for forty years.
