This was a network that had to PAY stations to carry it's shows, instead of the other way around.
Unless the cavalry come riding over the hill (Soros?) , it looks like this the end this time. Look for a renewed effort for a new "fairness doctrine"
Air America Radio closing, filing for bankruptcy - Yahoo! News
LOS ANGELES – Air America Radio, a radio network that was launched in 2004 as a liberal alternative to Rush Limbaugh and other conservative commentators, on Thursday shut down abruptly due to financial woes. The network once boasted hosts such as Al Franken and Rachel Maddow, but struggled from the outset, including multiple management shake-ups, a bankruptcy in 2006 and sale for $4.25 million the following year. Air America ceased airing new programs Thursday afternoon and said it will soon file to be liquidated under Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It began broadcasting reruns of programs and would end those as well Monday night. "The very difficult economic environment has had a significant impact on Air America's business. This past year has seen a `perfect storm' in the media industry generally," the company said in a statement on its Web site. The New York-based network said its "painstaking search for new investors" came close to succeeding even this week, "but ultimately fell short."

No problem. You can view the talent on MSNBC.
Rachel Maddow, Ed Shultz, both Air America veterans.

People watch MSNBC? I've flipped by and glanced Maddow frothing at the mouth, but never actually watched.

You have seen nothing yet until you have seen Olberman.

Olberman froths; Maddow speaks intelligently, calmly and usually without hyperbole.

To recap:

Olberman: Froth, melodrama.
Maddow: Smart lesbian* who knows her shit.

* I understand this makes a difference in these here parts, so I mentioned it.

"'Jelly Hat' sounds silly," I told Prince. "How about something poetic, like 'Raspberry Beret.'"

This is a good example of why we needed the recent decision from the Supremes. Without it, "free speech" really only applies to media outlets, and if you want to whip up your base you can recruit a few millions from Soros or someone (undisclosed) and start a media service. Then you can say whatever you want. If you want to BUY media time, however, it's against the "campaign reform" laws. Insanity.

So if you're the NYT you can influence politics via a corporation. Or if you're a union. Otherwise, forget it. Stupid.
He can be fixed -- you can't.

This is a surprise how? They probably weren't telling you what you wanted to hear.

IMO, no. Much like MSNBC, Maddow, and Olberman; Air America was saying things no one really cared to hear one way or the other. Most people aren't "dyed in the wool" anything and appreciate a little common sense.

That can't be true, either, as Rush Limbaugh and Bill O"Reilly wouldn't have the huge audiences they do.

Good point. Most people aren't "dyed in the wool" liberal or Democrat and appreciate a little common sense.
