Google Earth reveals Star of David on roof of Iran Air HQ

Did Israeli prankster architects sneak a Star of David onto the roof of the Teheran airport, or is the controversy in Iran over a Google Earth revelation much ado about nothing?

Regardless of whether it was happenstance or an act of architectural subterfuge, government officials in Iran were incensed this week when they discovered the outline of a Star of David atop the roof of the headquarters of Iran Air, Al- Arabiya reported on Monday.

I find this hilarious.

I saw this article, and I laughed quite hardily.

Apparently from the CNN article this star dates to a time before the current regime where Israel and Iran were close, and that such a symbol wouldn't have caused a stir.

On the other hand, this is nothing short of hilarity and the timing of its discovery couldn't be better for those who wish to undermine Iran's current regime (which is just about everybody on the planet).

Haha.

Seriously, though, I feel sorry for all the architects and their families. They'll probably all be rounded up and executed.

Well that was ages ago, so perhaps they've all emigrated somewhere by now.

I wonder what other google earth bombs are out there?

It's an airport and no pilots, crew, or passengers have ever noticed this before? That's fail on a level that the world has seldom seen before.

Well, if you believe the Iranian propaganda they don't hate Jews. They just want to facilitate the destruction of the Jewish state, but they don't hate Jews.

I never really understood what your problem is with me, specifically. All this vague, unspecified spite.

Nope. I actually don't know what his specific problem is with me. I've never had a direct run in with him like I have with you, Doofy, so I'm unclear about his specific beef with me. I'm not ruling out it having to do with my Jewishness, but I didn't jump to that conclusion.

His specific beef with you is that your username is beef.

On topic, it's pretty funny, but you have to think that someone would have noticed over the years, especially since the HQ is literally at Mehr Abad which has a helicopter base.

Problem #1: You don't see the problem.

FYI: A person I came into direct conflict with in that thread became a friend of mine a while back. I didn't even recall having that kind of altercation with him. I have no regrets about what I posted in that thread (some snap misjudgments notwithstanding), but times do change. In contrast, I guess some people are stuck in the past.

I must learn to stay out of the political lounge. Threads like this remind me why I avoid it 99% of the time.
