That's just weird. Who would actually want to do something like that?

Only if the make divorce illegal.
Divorce is already too complicated and messy between 2 people. Imaging how crazy divorce would be among 3.

Hello Mitt Romney, welcome to MacNN! If you are elected, can I be a czar, or maybe secretary of the interior?

Yes. Polygamy should be legal.
Not a huge fan of it in most religious contexts, but it should still be legal.
I know this is a joke thread, but I still wanted to go on the record.

The reason the LDS church ended the practice of polygamy is Congress required it end before admittance as a state.
Constitution of Utah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Utahns had drafted seven previous constitutions starting in 1849 as part of repeated attempts to become a state. However, Congress refused to admit Utah (or Deseret, as the territory originally wanted to be called), until the Mormon settlers of Utah renounced polygamy.

Confederacy? This would've granted Northern States the ability to continue offering sanctuary for runaway slaves instead of having to return them as property to the Southern States.
