Springloading folders in a SINGLE window in OS9
Where is the option to turn off Spring Loading Folders...

Right now, ever single time I open a new folder within another folder it opens a new WINDOW.

How do I make it like OS X, where I could keep everything in one Window?

Thanks

you cant. os 9 is a 1 to 1 relationship between windows and folders. each folder has a window, and each window is a folder.

in os x, each window is just a browser. you can have 5 windows all displaying the same thing. you can also have a new window load into itself. i think this creates confusion, and breaks the spatial relationship between the window and the folder.

reason number 27861357065465674 why i hate OSX.

Erm, even OSX opens new folders in seperate windows for springloaded folders... the concept wouldn't work in a single window mode without modification. You close the last window by moving the cursor outside the windows boundaries. If you have one window...

It could work, but not without modification.

But in OS X I could keep on opening levels after levels of folders in the same WINDOW. Unless I click on the HD again it will not open a new WINDOW.

In OS 9, every single time I click on a new sub-folder it'll open a new WINDOW.

You can't. End of story.

Turn off the toolbar and it goes back to the old way. Easy as pie.

You said spring loaded folders, not normal navigation.

Yeah, can't be done, unless there's a third party add on.

You can't, but other than a little naviagting, what's the big deal? When you let go, the others all close.

Oh no big deal. I just thought it would be less cluttering. And I thought I saw that option some where in Control Panel when I was messing around w/ it, and I couldn't find it any more.

Anyways thanks for the help.

The one thing you can do is hold down Option when double-clicking the folder icons, that'll close the old one when the new one opens.
